Murrcott Performance Course

Folks,

I recently did the Jim Murcott Peformance Course at Sandown in Melbourne.

It focuses more on driving fast than advanced driving techniques although most of the morning is spent with your instructor sharing driving technique and tips.

I can highly recommend the course. I have done it twice now. Once in a HSV Clubsport a few years ao and now in the RX8. The RX8 was not much slower than the HSV round the track. I can't compare exactly because the track has been modified since the first time round.

Points of interest:
* Top speed was between 195 and 200 kph
* Rear end was somewhat flighty at the top of the back straight
* Handling was excellent
* You have to be real smooth with the RX - exit corner speed was critical.
* Once the revs were low it took ages for it to spin back up.
* Don't challenge any AWDs especially WRX Sti - they fly round Sandown.

Best time for the day was a 1.34.42

Cheers , Stoli
