Mudflaps.

In an effort to keep a 'showroom' shine to a rather ordinary paint job, I want to fit soe flaps. Has anyone fitted some mudflap protection to thier 8? I see the Mazda ones will set me back $400 for as set and the ons on Japanparts $232+

Anyone had expereice with these or others?

And what's the paint code for Titanium Grey?

Thanks for your help.

IMHO mudflaps = 4WD. If you want showroom shine, then clean it regularly and try not to drive around mud/stones and other cars.

Colour code is stamped on one of the plates on the car (not sure which one but you will see it if you look)

Cheers

None of this is very helpful so far. What I'm trying to do is stop the crap on the roads getting spattered halfway up the doors. I'm talking about the moulded protection thingies that Mazda call mudflaps.

Oh ... mudflaps won't help that! You'll still get the stuff going up the side of your car. The most mudflaps will do is stop the odd stone from getting picked up and causing wierd dents ...

... but then, it only reduces the chance as it can still happen!

Sorry mate, I (we?) dont see the point. As Cromax said, they really dont do ****.

Go and drive on a really wet road and watch how wide the spray off the tyres is. Unless you get 2" wide flaps..they are gonna do diddly squat.

Better to spend your money on a good paint protection regime/product. Go get someone to give the car a REALLY GOOD cut, polish and wax, then maintain that. $400 will go a looooooong way towards that.

Cheers

Taka had a guy come to him and do a reasonably good job from memory.

I've been sitting here wondering how to reply to MissK's entry, but I too have clients who need my attention. I will in time. And It may be my last entry here. My original intention was to find out what you thought of an aftermarket accessory offered by Mazda. I wondered whether they would help prevent the sills and trailing edges of the wheel arches from being sandblasted by road grit over time. From the entries posted it appears you think them neither effective or attractive. Thanks.

No Harpo, you won't ... she's right, your reply post to us was rather disrespectful, especially considering we were just taking the ****! We weren't giving you a hard time, but you mention something like mudflaps on any car forum and you'd most likely get worse than a few sarcastic comments and confusing remarks.

None of us have time for these arguments.

Harpo, this is the Internet car forum. You wll gain a lot from here BUT you need a very thick skin and in reverse think about how you phrase things (/me frowns at MissyK )) as they get taken out of context very easily (take it from someone who is doing it and having it done to him constantly).

You're all right of course.

It is one of the great downfalls with this sort of communication Irony, sarcasm and hyperbole don't translate well into printed words. Some 'silly quips' and 'throw away' coments can seem passive agressive or hostile. Some advice comes across as santimonious. Others can be read as down right condescending. 'Smilies' can do little to clarify. But most of all, conversation seem to drift becasue emphasis is placed on one word on the question. In this case 'showroom shine' became the subject and prevoked comments about wrapping the car in bubble wrap. That's what I considered to be unhelpful - and I intended this to be taken as 'taking the ****' a little too.

We're all car proud. I was looking for a community with whom I could share a passion for a terrific car.

I'll have to claybar and wax my 'skin' if I am to continue posting.

get some really decent car cleaning stuff! none of this green turtle wax stuff. go for a quality product like autoglym or something.

Its a pain in the butt to keep the car clean but its the price you pay!

Harpo, go to www.onlinemazdaparts.com and they have them prepainted at much cheaper prices than here in oz. About 1/4 the price. Give them a go. They are good to deal with .
They are really easy to self install also.

Regards

Harpo in answer to your question, they make your car look very slick and they'll do exactly what you want them to do. The prices are very competitive on any of the vendors prices on RX8.com.

P.S. Cromax - I don't mind staying where I am, my inferiority complex isn't as good as yours!!!.
