MazdaSpeed air filter and oil cooler: is it on?
hehe I have changed the MazdaSpeed air filter and oil cooler. Nothing special. I think I can fainting hear the intake "sooop" sound at 8K but that is it. The engine runs smoother but it could be the new engine oil :o
I also have some Motul RBF 600 after listening to Hymee. Now I have a better feeling brake and the fluid certainly look cleaner

This is the air filter after 13863 km in Melbourne.
Not too bad. I think I have 8363km of them in the outskirt of Melbourne and this dust is from the 3 months I lived in Southbank :p
And since when the City Mazda become Essendon supporters?! :p

$130 plus postage from Japanparts.com
Good for 30000km in Japan. I think it is good for at least 40000km if you take it out and dust it once for a while (say, every 10000km)
The serviceman said stock one is about $100 each (on top of his head - he was not 100% sure)

How come you didnt get a drop in replacement from K&N it cost i think $180. plust the cleaning kit for about $20. So in the long run it might be cheaper for K&N dont you think?

I don't like oiled filter much. Attract dirt very easily. Had one for my integra and civic. I have to clean it every 10000km (which looks like I have been going rallying) and it is no way that the filter will look like that for a paper filter at 40000km.

how can it attract dirt?
dirt is either it is there or it isn't,
if the filter is dirty then it is doing its job?
if the filter is clean then maybe it isn't or
you haven't been doing enough rallye-ing!!

Unfortunately they are not.
They are paper type so you can only dust them when you take them out. You need to replace them sooner or later. (which is about 30000km).
