Mazda USA are about to start send DVD's on the "quirks" of the rotary to their RX-8 owners. They have had only a 60% response to their mailout to have the cars bought in for a reflash to the latest "M" flash. The following is from Mazda USA.

"We have developed a DVD covering the unique characteristics of the RENESIS rotary engine, including oil consumption, warming up the engine, and starting a flooded engine. Dealers will receive this program the week of 2/21. MSP 04 customers will receive it the week of 2/28."

Wonder if this DVD will reach our shores?

This DVD should have been incorporated with the purchase of the car heck the rotary was officially released 1st August 2003 .

Interesting how this information sorta didn't make it to the manual! I mean.... i dont have a DVD player in my RX8 yet.....

Yeah I think so too. The CD I had is from Wildcard and it is more like a promotion CD/VCD rather than a owner's manual. But I am sure something in the DVD is similar. I can burn one for you Saturday.

I am sure someone will burn/rip or host it. Why not seek our US buddy's help?

So does this mean the new RX-8's will be capable of playing DVDs in the NAV unit? :D Ahh...wishful thinking!

 

I thought Mazda will give us a DVD player (or better recorder) - at home or for RX-8.

We never have NAV unit in our RX-8. We have good memory to know all the roads in town.
