... I got a copy of the COTY edition of Wheels. Plus a new key ring and a letter that talks about an Advanced driving course.

Anyone else get one?

Hi,

Got the Wheels COTY edition and key-ring today also.

The key-ring is basically a bit of wire looped through a round metal chunk with Mazda & RX8 emblems on either side. Looks nice, already using it.

Actually more than just pre-orders got the book. I ordered mine in August (as it rolled off the truck - picked up five days later) and still got the book.

Key ring has Mazda emblem on one side and RX-8 logo on the other.

It's not the welcome pack. I got my car in August. IIRC, it took about a month to six weeks for my welcome pack to turn up.

In my original welcome pack, I got the book, a pretty crappy blue zoom-zoom torch key ring and t-shirt, plus Murcott invite.

Today, I got the new key ring (which I now seem to have lost ) Wheels and letter mentioning the course again.

Oh, and my dealer also gave me a cap, pen and RX-8 squeezie when I picked up the car.

Yes - got it today.

It is a different course from what I read. I am gunna find out more. I am real interested, but I don't suspect it will be cheap.

Cheers,
Hymee.

Well the order of gift from Mazda as this (order May 2003)

1. Coffee table book
2. Letter for track day. Eventually went to Mallala, SA
3. T shirt at the track day
4. The car
5. Welcome pack with Murcott form, colour coded key, key ring and a Wheel mag comparing 350Z vs RX-8 (AUG 03 issue).

Have not heard from them since

A very speedy response to an email last night to mazda aust regarding the new driver training offer:

"Thank you kindly for your reply. We are keeping a running total of people who have registered their interest in the RX-8 Advanced Driving Course and will inform you of the details of this program in due course"

Spoke to Mazda today - it's the level 2 Murcott course, and the invite is in addition to the level 1 invite most of us have got previously. You have to do level 1 before you can do level 2. They seem fussy about recognising alternative programs - Murcott wouldn't accept my BMW Driver Training for example. So I'm off on a level 1 as soon as i can get to it! Mazda say the mailing was to guage interest in a level 2 Rx-8 day, so for xxxx's sake give them an affirmative reply won't you!

Hope to catch up with a lot of you guys on the Sydney day. I'm starting to like Mazda Aust more and more :D :D

The level 2 course sounds cool, especially if it is RX-8 specific. I'm still a little unsure though whether it is going to be free or not? Sign me up Mazda if you're paying!

I think it is something we would have to pay for. I think Mazda are posting on behalf of ("in partnership with") Murcotts, as Mazda have the DB of all our names and addresses.

Word of warning with those keyrings - the little srew bits on the end have a habit of unscrewing themselves leaving a trail of keys!

I've registered interest and got the same email response from Mazda. I'd guess we'll be paying for it but (depending on exactly how much it is) I'm certainly prepared to do that.
