Lost the rear end at speed.

I was testing the 8 out last night seeing just how well it revs out. I was pushing through 5th at around 8000rpm when I came to a small rise. As the 8 went over the rise the tail became very light. Too my horror just after the rise there was a slight bend. I gently turned the wheel to negotiate this bend but the rear end started to come out. I applied some gentle opposite lock but the tail has kicked the opposite way. The engine was absolutly screaming as the rear end has stepped out majorly.

The tyres were squeeling as the tail passed my nose. As the car had spun 180 I turned the wheels into the spin. At about 360 degrees with a good deal of the speed washed off and serious steering input I was abled to get the car to stop the spin and pull straight coming to a rest on some grass. '**** that was intense' was running through my mind. I cannot believe I was able to stop the 8 from hitting anything.

Sitting back in my seat I stopped doing anything for second to think about what just happened. As the excitement faded I decided to watch the preview. Damn I was lucky but the rx8 looked hot. I luv GT4. You have to get it, it is sensational!

Cheers

The only wheel to buy is the Logitech Driving Force Pro! I posted on this wheel previously when I built "my sit in" simulator. It has 900 degrees of turn which is about 2.5 turnes lock to lock

I drove Nurburgring of the Type S and go under 9 minutes.... it is very narrow.

I love the wheel but I think I will have to do a set up like DAZ-13B (I think it is him) !

I was worried at 8,000 RPM in 5th, but I still got sucked in. Good one.

Any one know how hard/difficult is it to adapt PC game port control to PS2?

I got a nice sit in sim, and I wonder if I should plug it into #1 son's PS2. Better still, I should take it to sco's and plug it into his absolutely f'ken huge widescreen HD projector.

Cheers,
Hymee.

The ring is a great drive on GP Legends. Loved driving around it in the Brabham BT24.

9 minutes - that must be the north circuit?

Cheers,
Hymee.

I need to check my facts, but I think the GP circuit viz 1967 was about a 15 minute lap. But I could be wrong. I'm pretty sure there is a shorter course called the "Norshcliffe" or something that someone with German can correct me on, the means North Circuit.

These days you can pay a toll and do a lap in a real car

Cheers,
Hymee.

Speaking of Logitech steering wheels can someone check the transformer on theirs and tell me what the output is. I'm assuming its 12v but how many milliamps?

I have lost mine and need to get a new one. It sux playing without the force feedback.

Ah ah ah ah. You got me!

I bought GT4 on Saturday and tried it half an hour yesterday. On the RX8 only of course. I'll need some more practise before I can get any results.

I bought the PS2 last november and haven't touched it since then, waiting for GT4.

I'm going to buy a PS2 real soon just for GT4. Can I use my USB Momo steering wheel on a PS2 or do I need some sort of adaptor?

Sorry for the ignorance, but I have no idea what the PS2's controller inputs look like.

I did a little research, and the signals are completely different.

The PS2 seems to use more like a serial communications protocol. The PC Game port is more like an A/D converter. That would mean you would need an adaptor to do the A/D conversersion from your PC based controller, then output the serial messages to the PS2.

Cheers,
Hymee.

Soooo Close .... Sorry, I misunderstood you... I found going the other way (PS2 controls on the PC/XBox) http://www.gmb-online.nl/main.asp?mode=item&N=3081

Good post! Had me sucked in beautifully there for a while. :D

Alas, I have no Playstation to run GT4.

Can anybody recommend anything similar that's worth playing on the PC please?

I do still have a steering wheel packed away in a box somewhere, unused since a minor obsession with Grand Prix Legends, Colin MacRae 2 and NFS Porsche a few years back.

Anybody know of any recent worthwhile PC racers, or is there nothing much to compare with GT4?
