little advice ? weird mechanical noise....
hi all, was hoping for a little help, suggestions,... ?
i have a noise that sounds like a rattling bit of metal or wire from under the car when i accelerate, or the engine is under load, with the car in gear,
i think its coming from the clutch, cars done 63000km, and has original clutch i suspect, if it sounds terminal to you guys and i need a new one, should i get an aftermarket clutch ? will it be cheaper, as good or better ???
anyone wanna throw a few possible diagnosis`s into the ring

Hi Tim, I have a strange noise like that that occurs right on 3k rpm. I have spent a lot of time looking for it (as Mazda say they cant hear it and if there is a noise it is my aftermarket exhaust!). I think I have tracked mine down to the heat shielding that surrounds the factory headers. It is a cheap factory alternative to powder coating them and seems to be getting loose and vibrating with all the expanding and contracting that it does. Just a theory and I hope it is this for your sake as this is a cheap no cost problem. The other are far more expensive to fix..

excellent ! thanks guys sounds like it could be the heat shield !, i`ll have a poke about and see if i can spot the problem and quiet it down, compare notes on the next cruise
hope its not the clutch, i could get a bronze volk re30 for that money !
