Mazda to sell Rotary Division to Russian LADA

Submitted by Dan Mazzella on Wednesday, April 1, 2009 - 9:52am
In a sign of the tough economic conditions, Ford is forcing Mazda to sell their Rotary Division to the Lada. Lada, a Russian car manufacturer in Togliatti, Russia, is owned by AvtoVAZ. AvtoVAZ spoksman Aprel Durakov was quoted at the press conference: "In Russia, rotary is very popular. With acquisition of Mazda Rotary, we make most powerful rotary on planet."

Lada plans on opening up a whole line of Rotary Powered vehicles. The RX-8 will be the first Lada branded car, however, the name will change to яд-8. Rumor has it the next car Lada will come out with will be a remake of the famous Soviet Era sedan, the Riva 1500 (pictured above). Since there are no smog restrictions in Russia, Lada will also invest in multi-rotor engines. Look for 3 and 4 rotor sports sedans in the future!

In Soviet Russia, Rotary owns you!!

Dont get too depressed its an April fools day from US
