Insurance Renewal Query in NSW

Greetings All,

Well as a lot of us have now had our RX-8s for about a year it is now insurance renewal time. I got mine today and thought '$57,000' before I opened the letter to find it is actually an agreed value of $58,340, so I was close.

Now I knew it would depreciate but does that sound like a reasonable amount ?(from nearly $70,000) . This is for a car garaged on the Central Coast north of Sydney with a 65% ncb through NRMA. Cost is $1102 - down from $1300 last year.

Can people in NSW let me know what they are being quoted as a renewal value please.

Perhaps they most annoying thing about NRMA is that they keep saying that the leather pack is an option - so listed as options are things like the leather trim which as I told them last year is wrong as the car is standard in this form. Perhaps they are looking at the Wheels magazine listing - they too ignore the leather pack models completely in their price list. I only went with them in the start as they were the cheaper than GIO who handle our other cars. Might need to ask GIO what they would charge.

Regards
Jeffneil

Yeah, better food and wine, better pubs, less traffic. Nice place to be.

Worth talking to AAMI when you're considering insurance. They have a sliding scale of premiums depending on what excess you wish to nominate -- anywhere from standard $450 excess to a max of $2000.
I am over 25 and have a 60% no claim status. GIO quoted me approximately $970 for an agreed value of $60k with $450 excess and $450 sports car penalty. AAMI quoted $855 for a $450 excess and no sports car penalty. I'm paying $455 with a $2000 excess for an agreed value of $60k.
AAMI will also recognise other companies no claim status. I have had a 60% status with GIO for three years so AAMI, in my first year with them, has automatically given me 70% no claim status for life regardless of the number of claims I make.
It's worth talking to them.

Sorry. Meant to say in the last post that the car is a leatherpack and is garaged in Canberra.

I don't have agreed value, but if it gets written off within the next 12 months, I get a new one. So I suppose it doesn't really "depreciate" like that in insurance terms.

About $1000 with SuncorpMetway. Excess is a bit heafty, and no under 25's

I always thought agreed value was a better option for older cars, particularly for ones that are restored / good condition / rare.

Shannons is good cause you can get some sort of limited track coverage from what I understand. But it is limited to like $25k or something for an on-track incident. Correct me if I am wrong - just digging deep into the memory banks there.

Cheers,
Hymee.
