Insurance - I have finalised the best insurance deal

I am with GIO now.

$1012, Life time rating one, Safe suburb, 30.

Insure all modifications that I have below. I cannot find anyone insure all this mods with this price. In fact, the company that insure more mods are Just car and Shannon, but they are very expensive. GIO said I can still have either a full bodykit or suspension plus wheel before not insuring me.

Only catch is excess $1050.

EDIT: Choppy see... insurance cover the Unichip and cheaper than AAMI :p

Hmmm, only a tiny bit cheaper than AAMI with similar conditions, plus excess with them is only $400...

Not the same condition, pepe. They do not insure many mods, like Unichip. They don't even like (and whinge about) my exhaust and bodykit.

And yes I used to be with them - $1140 with $400 excess for me.

AAMI said "they do not insure anything that increase performance of the car" but they insure your riced-up products :p

That is the agree value of most company right? Oh ok... If coz it is the 2nd year of the car. This is what I get I suppose. The same car is selling privately for $56-58k and similar to red book. I guess it is fair

market value is what most insurance company use, but as the owner of the car, you can ask for an agreed value policy, which you tell the insurance how much you want your car to be insured (ie. car + extras/options etc)..... but dont expect a reduction on the renewal tho...... :o will find out with my soon anyway

Well I thought there is a reduction of agree value every year. Agree value of the renewal policy from AAMI is $54300 from $68000 last year. Higher agreed value will get higher premium, so you have paid for it at the end.

There is still new for old this year so totalling the car (touch wood) will not change much? (or does it?)...

Congratulations Taka!

I'm so jealous, did you know you are paying approximately 30% of my annual premium?

本当であるか?

It is useful to be old....

With all the mods I am insuring... I think it is ok

Yeah with extra $2000 a year - you can have Tein coilover instead of the spring, a Volk racing wheel instead of yours, or an extra intake
2 years saving you get radiator, oil cooler and gauges. OR the whole extractor or high flow cat
3 years saving you get a MazdaSpeed kit

NJ... you will hate me by now :p

I just rang a couple of insurance companies to see if I'm really getting ripped off.

GIO quoted me a higher premium then what I'm currently paying.
How does $4200 p.a. sound?

Suncorp is also higher then what I was paying, $3800p.a

AAMI was slightly cheaper then my current insurers at $3400p.a.
Unfortunately they don't offer pay by the month, so it doesn't suit my cash flow.

Lastly, Allianz refused me insurance because of my age.

Guess I'm going to have to stick with NRMA at $3600p.a.

I haven't tried them since a few of my friends have had bad experiences.

For example, my mate had his S2K insured with them and unfortunately, it was stolen from the secured carpark at a shopping centre with no eye witnesses present.

The vehicle vanished into thin air!
He filed the necessary police reports and made the claim.

Do you know how long they took to payout?

Try 3 months!

And this was after he threatened legal action!

This guy has never made a claim in his whole 10 year insurance history nor has he had any criminal records and they wanted to investigate him?

The investigation was concluded after 6 weeks of the initial claim, so what took them so long?

Another one of my mates experienced similar (lack of) service and swears never to use them again for insurance.

Depends which operator you get, some will tell you to call Just Cars since they supposedly specialise in "young drivers" and/or "modified" cars.

Or maybe it's because of all the WRX's being stolen from your area. LOL

dont know man.... thought i was using my best connection at the haberfield assessment centre........ oh well..... it worked out well, got a much better deal with shannons anyway :D

also, whatever you said about Just Cars/AAMI is true, they are one of the worst insurance companies to deal with when you have made a claim.

which one, the repairer or the insurance company?

as for the parts, it depends......, their (insurance company, in this case AAMI) policy on "newer" cars, say less than 3 y/o, the repairer has to use brand new, genuine parts, but if its an "older" car, then they can use 2nd hand, genuine parts from wreckers.
