Impression after modding.

Hello.

Some people might remember me and parts i got.

MS flywheel
MS shock absorber + spring
RE- exaust manifold Re-exaust system. ( mid to rear section )
Exedy organic clutch... just replacement.
Extras...like screens and radiator cooling plate.
K&N CAI 'Typhoon'

Ric Shaw has done wonderful job for me.
I just got my car back from Ric Shaw. today.
My first thought was " i'm driving a different car! "

I'm using same pressure disc for clutch. but It was much easier and softer, lighter. ( wonder why.. adjusted rate? )
Car was way lighter when it accelerate, and steering wheel was little bit heavier.
Much improvement with handling. More sensitive. Also absorbs more shocks when i go over the humps.

Sound's heaps different from stock car.

It doesn't bogges at 0-low speed anymore. ( flywheel, It usually did... )
And also became easier to use engine break and hill-and-toe, shifts....
Car is much softer.
Sound from CAI is ..hm i can't really notice it that much. Because of sound from exaust?
but i can still feel the difference.

I'm not really sure about which part improves what ....too much modding at once.. but difintie improvement.

Yes autobarn should carry it.

I'm not sure yet.
I just got my car back today.
I think it will do v.little.
as it's not major thing...
just thin plate.

i'll try to post updates... whether cooling plate does help or not.

Cooling plate does very little ... it is the plate around the lock of the bonnet.

It looks good if you have some nice colour to it.

Overoil is not quite a good thing, the extra oil will get to the throttle. The thinnest oil applied is the best mate. Judging that you have oiled the other half, if you have spray anything on the half you think it is not enough... I will just leave it. haha.

BTW these are all great mod and I am glad that you like the car better

Thx!

It's Cusco one..

http://www.japanparts.com/Pic/pic163/002-003.JPG

and my car is Phantom blue.

Kinda...matches..i guess

Sad that I didn't know thinnest oil is the best.

Should i just leave it or wash and apply again? hmm.

extra oil that gets into the throttle is real bad thing?

Congrats!

I'd love to hear the exhaust in person! Where abouts are you located?

I do like RE Amemiya system... damn, why I went for a quiet one in the first place...

Katana I found an article in the old mag about oiling the filter. Hopefully I understand it correctly. hehe.

Oil in the filter is to increase the filtration of dust in the air. So it is necessary to have oil in the oil type filter.

However, overoil will do such:
It may decrease air flow (may is a strong word in Japanese haha).
More dust will attract, the filter will be dirtier quicker.
The worst is to have oil going to throttle but I think it is in the extreme.

So katana, if you have a light layer in the other part (I assume it is the bottom bit :p) of the filter, then leave it.

When I had the oil type filter (not this car), I tend to over do it as well. I always think the more colour the better....

Anyway. Good that you have Ric to do your car... I wish I have too

Thanks Takahashi!

Ric's shop is not that far away from my home! ^-^v ( like 20-30 min drive..well not too far )

Before changing flywheel. I used to crumble the gear. you know...like drilling sound..hurting gear box. ( lack of skill )
now it seems like it's gone. people say it's harder to drive with flywheel changed and stiffer with shocks and springs done.
My opinion is that it's more easier to drive.
I don't feel any stiffer than stock.. ( maybe it is..but hardly noticeable )
Flywheel wasn't a big problem, quite lot of difference first time, but getting used to it quite fast.

I'd love to video the sound. But i got exams on coming monday and friday. ( uni student )

RE is not that noisy exaust i think. I think it was 48 db? where HKS Legamax as like 98 db. not sure on this...

Well I liked the sound RE produce.
My parts were mostly imported via www.japanparts.com
and fitted by Ric Shaw

DrewMan I live in Gordon, sydney

Near chatswood. I will probably have time next next week to let you hear it, or video sounds.

BTW

What hp gain can i expect? from few bolt-ons i've done.

Not major but still..

about 20hp?

RE-exaust manifold = about 5hp?
RE- super dolphin muffler = about 5~6?
( Ti one was too expensive..lol )
K&N Typhoon = 5~6?
MS flywheel = 3? less loss ( hence gain? ) @ 1st and 2nd gear
https://www.rx8club.com/attachment.p...0&d=1094168284

Rather than gain on power, I think car is much more responsive

Planning to get AFE short shifter from http://www.performancedesign.com.au/
I've already quoted the price.. $435 AUD including GST and overnight delivery charge to sydney.

And agency pully. ( still reading reviews )

having all those mods. which warranties are expired?? ( including pully )

almost everything except engine?
