I Bought One!

WOOHOO!!!!

Today I signed my life away. It cost me an arm, a leg and my first born but I am soon to be the proud owner of a new, Winning Blue, Leather Pack RX-8 with a rear spoiler.

Then of course I logged on to order some strakes/crests from the UK guy Kalli got hers from, but he's all out

Almost bought an Ebony "Shinka" as a local dealer has one arriving in June, but couldn't wait that long. Apparently Newcastle has a Winning Blue and it should be down here in a week or two. :D

Timbo, when is that Canberra drive pencilled in for?

Now I'm off to talk to Hymee about some mods.............

Congratulations... Hymee is on the other side of Brisbane from you... 12 hours and you can be here if you take it easy! The Grille set is a must! Just have a look under the front bumper..

Well done, Tim. :p :p :p :p :p

Why don't you fly up to Newcastle and drive it down yourself?

Welcome to the fold. You'll have to meet up with timbo so you can learn the secret handshake.

Congrats Tim Tam!!! :D :D

That was the colour I was going to get but must say the titanium has really grown on me.

Look forward to wetting the baby's head with you on the 29th (see Canberra meet and greet thread).

I spoke too f$%#ing soon!!!!!!!

The 8 in Newcastle that I was promised is an 04 build, and has 200kms on it. That's not new, that's a demo. There is another 04 build in Victoria, but it's mid-May God damn it, I want an 05!

Apparently the next shipment is in June/JULY, so I have little choice but to wait until then.

Timbo, looks like I won't be able to make that Canberra drive.

I would have thought here's nothing wrong with an 04 build if the price is right...and I mean very right

I'll find out, but I assume that it hasn't just been sitting in a wharehouse for the last 5 months. Could well be another demo.

The 350Z I drove last week had 200kms on it, and apparently it's been a demo for 6 months!

Only choices are to wait, or change colours.

Is that a special water bottle

Better wait to get the one you want really. I know it is hard, and I have been through it too!

Perhaps a colour change? I wasn't 100% sold on the Winning Blue.

There don't appear to be many Staro Blues or Nordic Greens on this list, why is that? Is there a stigma attached to those, as Timbo pointed out that there is with yellow?

Green is very hard to move off the floor. I have only seen 1 Strato Blue one on the road.

Check under the bonnet which is at the front of your car, Taka. There is a lever to open it near your right knee .

Your one of these will be black.

Colour is a matter of personal taste. What we say here has a fair bit of tongue-in-cheek. I guess after the pre-orders, dealers had to take a punt on what they thought would sell best, which is why you see so many reds, silvers and titaniums, with the odd sprinkling of black and blue.

The green, while it looks great in the sun, is -- as Gomez says -- a hard colour to move in any car.

My point about an 04 car is that with 200k on the clock, even as a demo, it has hardly been seriously used. If you can get it with a full (Mazda) warranty, at $57k or thereabouts, then you will have factored in a lot of the immediate depreciation you get anyway the moment you drive an 05 out the dealer's gate. I see asking on road price for the Shinka is nearly $70k; I paid around $57k for my pov pack pre-order, so -- if you see where I'm coming from -- there's no big deal in the later year, but the puying value is there.

Just my 2c

BTW: Gomez, I think taka has a Mazdaspeed washer bottle j/k :D

FYI, Tim Tam, Peter (on the Australian RX-8 Forum ) says he just bought a special edition for $62k, including 'spoiler, tints, mats, some exhaust thing(?) and alarm'. That sounds like a great deal to me

He must have had a gun to their head!

Slaven have the titanium "Shinka" as you know, and have an Ebony one on order. They wouldn't budge a bit in price on either one.
