How many Kiwi's out there?

Hi,

After seeing bugger all 8's around Auckland it's been a great weekend!

Another Red (Kepa Rd Sunday?) a grey (Turning onto St Heliers Bay Rd, also Sunday) Plus a silver last weekend.

Are any of you guys out there and how many others? Pookina, DCD and mrad01, R U in Auckland?

I live around the eastern bays and there is regularly a bunch of rotary guys who meet up on a Sunday down around Orakie, kids in 3's, 7's and a bunch of Capella's (even a wagon).

Like to guage interest in doing something similar for a laugh!

Ahhhhhh bugger it I wrote a big message and it didn't post it :|
Oh well, to recap yeah I live in auckland.
Yeah it would be interesting to see some other RX8's but I would be more interested in seeing some that are modified. I would love to mod mine, but can't decide exactly what to do with it.

Cool that's one at least was beginning to feel a little lonely! Ditto the mods, but I think we may be early adopters at this corner of the planet!
Am looking at exterior at the moment, like the look of Omicron's mix of Mazda and MS. I think Hymee's exhaust will be on the cards as well.
Seeing the Sydneysiders tour photo's makes me even more determined for a get together at some stage!
Cheers

Yeah I might be looking at doing a few things in the next month or so, I am quite interested in the HKS exhaust, someone on the other forums was saying that it reasonably quiet almost stock up to about 5-6G, and then it only opens up above that, but when it opens up!! PPPPHHHHEEEWWWWW its loud. But that sounds perfect to me, I love a bit of noise, and if its only really loud up top then you arn't gonna get any static from the cops etc.... Anyone here had any personal experiance with the HKS? Like I siad I like abit of noise but I don't want trouble from police.

In terms of looks, I have the appearance package on mine, and I would like to do a few things to it, but I would rather do performance mods to straight cosmetics first of all. If I was gonna do anythign cosmetic I would probably put a set of white TE37's on it, and lower it. Functional, and Im sure it would look wicked!

I'm here :D

The club you would see will be Rotor Dynamic with are a break off of the old Mazda Rotary Enthusist Club.

They currently have 1 x Red RX-8 from Hamilton.

Your other choice is the FD Kai (www.rx7.net.nz)

We are mainly a 3rd Gen RX-7 club but also have a RX-8 Titanium with Full Kit in our club. And are more than happy to welcome more RX-8 members. Our Club is $30 to join and you get on the email list to talk **** and get cheap parts and MazdaSpeed bits from Me. Plus any problems we will help you solve them.

We have RotorRuns about every few weeks around summertime.

Also you get special invites like we got to see the RX-8 (Proto-type) Also I organised a Rotary only view of the first 3 Mazda RX-8 demos in the country. (you might have seen in NZPC or REV Magizine)

Also I have contacts at Mazda Japan so have access to all new Mazda developments. And travel to Japan once a year for Tokyo Auto Salon

Our cars range from stock to wild

Such as.... Anton Tallots 4 Time Targa Winning FD, Dave Pecks R-Magic Targa FD plus 3 GT FD's in the build.

If you like I could post a msg on your next Run and you can tag along for a Drive. And see if you want to join or otherwise for more detail www.rx7.net.nz

The Titanium one out Pakaranga way has a Big Bore Exhaust we did for him one of the ProMaz systems. Try and check it out next time you see him.

Also from memory the MazdaSpeed System I can get for around $1300.00

So Maestro are you part of FD Kai? I remember I sent the club pres an email a while ago, but then I never got anything sorted out.

So you can get cheap mazdaspeed parts?
I was looking at some and they are not super cheap, but I guess about what you would expect. I was interested in the mazdaspeed sways and struts.
Yeah I wouldn't mind taking a look at a club cruise if Im free next time one is on. Its always good fun to meet new guys into cars.
So do you know if many RX8 in NZ are modified? That one with the ProMaz system I would love to hear it, since as I mentioned I am looking at an exhaust myself.

Well as of last week I was actually working for North Harbour Mazda.

We did the ProMaz Exhaust in house there. Sounds great it really does the exhaust not of the Renesis is Music honestly.

I did it for a customer of mine I will give him a call and see if he can bring his car out for a blat as well.

What colour is yours and where did you get it from ????

Yeah i'm from the Kai. Our Pressy is quite busy tied up with new kidddy etc but I do distinctly remember your email and all the guys were keen to get some RX-8's into the club. If you want I can send you a Membership Form and we can sort you out and get you onto the list etc.

Also if you are after some TE37's I know where some cheap brand new 18" are. They are Bronze though ?

Oh ok yeah I got my car from John Andrew and they talked about some exhausts in house too. Yeah I would love to do the exhaust on my car and free what it should sound like.
Mine in a black one with the factory kit on it. I have also tinted it. Can't beat black on black!
Cool I would be interested in checking out the club, I will have to come on a cruise and then maybe we can sort out membership then? I guess it can't hurt to send the membership form though, my email is dblecdogg at hotmail dot com
How cheap are the Volks? I really am looking for some white ones but if the price is right who knows, I think bronze would look good on a black car too.

Maestro,

Glad i kicked this thread off! Have tried contacting the MREC in Auckland but have had no reply.

Looked at the Kai site and looks like a blast. Had a guy in a red fd in Epsom pull up at the lights, a member i think.

Can you put me on the list for the next run. I'll send you a private with my email.

Cheers

Mike

- Yes, I'm in central Auckland. My Ti RX8 is 9 months old now, and I'm still loving every minute of driving it.

chewing through the oil, and quite tricky taking it in to dealer (Great North Road the nearest) for rotary oil, when I work long hours in Henderson. It would be good to be able to buy tske-home packs of oil so we could do our own top-ups.

You can Mazda 5W-30 Mineral Oil with the 'Rotary Additives'

Its about $30 bucks for 4 litres :D

Can't remember the Part number anymore.

Its good stuff though :D

Of course you get it topped up for free at your local Mazda dealer as part of the free servicing.

I purchased 4 litres of oil at John Andrews parts in the city(Off Symonds St). Was about $44 with "trade discount".

Thanks Rian,

Are you still a Mazda dealer?

The car's going brilliantly - lots of fun. Only problems cosmetic - my other half had a reversing accident entailing a new bumper.

BTW, you probably aren't a Shortland Street fan, but my RX8 plays the part of Chris Warner's car and is not infrequently onscreen. Free exposure in primetime - not bad huh?

Cheers,

Simon

My Partner is. Which pretty much means I get to be too.

I did notice the car of course. My eyes never miss a RX-8 Good stuff to see a quality car in the limelight :D

So someones car is a celebrity :D

My car has a claim to fame. Its is Dark-Mans car in the short film on High Octane 2.

Not as high profile as you though Simon

No I'm not working for Mazda anymore. I'm working for WSV doing American Pickups and conversions but if your ever out in east tamaki give me a yell and pop in for a coffee.

I hope Mazda will give me a call when the new MazdaSpeed6 arrives for my evaluation drive

:D
