Hole

Yesterday I had occasion to have a good look under the front of the car for the first time (the Canberra boys will know why!!!!).

Discovered a chip packet wedged in a round hole about 30-40mm in diameter about 50mm or so back from the leading edge of the bash-tray(??). Appeared to be deliberately cut into the tray.

Anyone have a similar hole - if so, what the hell is it for??

Very funny. Yeah whoopee!!

I'm actually being serious for a change.

Anyone know more about this hole-thing than the two "comedians" and is prepared to flaunt their vast knowledge of all things RX8?

Fair enough, I've had a look at the manual but need a better "description" of location and item and or photo.

Thanks guys. I'll try to be more specific when I get a chance to look under again (not a daily driver for me and getting it out of the garage in daylight doesn't usually happen during my miserable working week).

Getting a clear shot may be difficult (not to say my complete ignorance about uploading same) - how about some measurements?

I had a look and, if it's the hole to the pax side of the baffle/bash/barge panel, it gives access to a plug in the radiator -- I guess to make draining the cooling system easy to do without removing all that plastic. IMHO, no damage will occur if you choose to store your empty chip packets there :D

I wonder...

Could the packet have been put there to catch a chip off the old block?

aaargh....

Amazing what can get stuck under cars. A while back a forum member spent days trying to trace an odd smell and eventually found a plastic bag wedged somewhere on his exhaust system.
