i`m up for cruizes and stuff, track days,.. bit of a car fan, (understatement),
yes, i sound a bit keen, just excited i guess

Congrats. Mine has its first birthday in 2 weeks.
Assuming it is new.
Remember no cruise control and double demerits.
It is a bit further but the New England is worth a look.
Top up your oil at Armidale then head down Thunderbolts Way.

Tim,
Congrats, and I got mine from Brissie too!
We have empirical proof that the RX8 is a better choice than the Mini. I drove one at the first RX8 Nationals (was living in NZ and the rx was too big for hand luggage! so borrowed the mini for the weekend. Found the gearshift and steering a bit bus like)
Your next toy needs to be a short shifter, you can try one of ours on the cruise.
Cheers
Mike

Mine came out of Brisbane on a truck.
The guy in Sydney I had been dealing with spat the dummy big time when I told him.
I said "He offered me a better price than you did"
He replied "I could have done better".
I said "Well you will know not to stuff me around in future, get to the right price fast.".
A friend taught me that you tell them they have one shot only. Buying a car is not about what they can do for you it is about what you can do for them.

thanks everyone
i feel at home already !
the drive from brisbane was great, (i did use the cruise control, `till about byron, then it feels like the cars driving you rather than me driving it, so i went all "manual" the rest of the way,
but i see what you mean thisllub, i got a suprise every now and then when looking at the speedo, i was cruising in 6th to keep the revs down and minimise fuel, it wants to sit on 145!, (not really gonna win any arguments with the officer tho).
the overtaking lanes were fun, dropping it back to 4th at 100, and booting it, it picks up pretty fast, that and the sound, awesome, thats never gonna get old
, my rationale here was that the police look the other way in the overtaking lanes, anyone been booked in an overtaking lane?? u just gotta do it to pass 2 tucks in a 800m stretch, so much fun
i bought the car secondhand from a dealer in brisbane, it was the exact thing i was looking for (specs), and i had no time to mess about, the guys up there were great, straight shooter types, most important, no sales talk, (always so frustrating when you just want an answer)
mikeyr, a short shifter `eh,... sounds good, thanks for offering a test drive
thats just one very cool thing about this forum, suspension, exhaust, and stuff,.. the ability to test and feel the differences
its funny, i went to shift my old car out of the parking space when i got home at 2am, i thought the handbrake was stuck on in my old car
, i checked four or five times, i got used to that extra pickup in the rx8 pretty quickly,
looking forward to meeting everyone on the cruise, and a trackday sometime, just need some better brake pads than the stock ones i guess,...
i frickin love my car

You might think swaybars are a better investment after your first trackday though I'm also a fan of the short shifter. Depends on your personal priorities. If you can afford it, get both.
Stock brake pads are okay actually but it depends how much time you want to spend tracking it (and how long your sessions are).
The Pacific Highway is pretty dull these days.
I would have had to at least detour via the old Buladelah road to find some corners.
