Herald Sun Car Page voted against RX-8

I don't know whether you guys noticed or posted this.

The Herald Sun in Melbourne last Friday had their COTY in their car pages.

Won by Honda Accord Euro and RX-8 voted 2nd!

Scored 44 against 48 from the Euro, the RX-8 only gets the nods from 2 of the 10 judges where Euro had 7.

They are way ahead of the 3rd place Prius II which only had 20 points.

No explantion of each car... prob they only have 2 pages to report it.

News Corporation readership has to be catered to. Mid sized family cars and light SUVs to cater to the mid sized intellects of their general readership.

Over here in the Advertiser, they have the "Girl Torque" section for car reviews - some ditzy idiot whose primary review criteria seems to be :

"a" how many males are jealous as she drives past
"b" how fast it goes up Willunga Hill
"c" cup holders and stereo controls
"d" how many males are jealous as she drives past

You think that's bad.......

Worse than that, one of the reviewers, James Stanford actually said and I quote "Mazda's RX-8 is an innovative four-seater and would have done better without a rotary engine" http://carsguide.news.com.au/news/st...E21822,00.html

Arggghh! Does he not understand! What is the point of the car without a rotary - it simply doesn't work with any other engine.

I don't even own my RX-8 yet and it makes my teeth hurt!

wtf?:

Neil Dowling

THE Honda Accord Euro is one of those rare cars that combines styling balance with driving poise, performance with comfort and fuel efficiency with minimal emissions.

While not precisely defining the word "dynamic" when it comes to driving, it is competent and will appease all but those with a leaden right foot

A convoluted way of saying it is a boring car, turns no heads, forget a Sunday drive through the hills, best suited for a commute to the shopping centre car park........Yaaaaawwwwwwn!

Actually he's telling us in a round about way that those of us who want something more should go buy an RX-8.

Which we did/are doing.
