Well, the kit is now available in the US for a RRP of $4195.
Some places are selling them for about $3595, I'm just curious whether anyone else downunder is considering getting one?

im more interested in the specs and content, and would it be a straight fit for the aussie spec 8? not sure about the difference in RHD/LHD layout
the prices is def. an advantage over whats available here, but how about the realiabilty/tuning (i know it just got onto the market :o )
will send an email to our greddy supplier in the states and find out more

The Greedy kit E-manage piggy back unit has not been tuned for the Australian specked ECU until that occurs i dont believe the kit will work on our cars .
The cost of fitting the Greddy kit should be around $1500.00 The actual cost of the Greddy kit is around $ 4000 .

I personally prefer to wait for Hymee and Dr Phils Twin screw supercharger as i believe it will be a more precise tailor made system for the AUSTRALIAN SPEC RX8 not just a kit (bolt on one system fits all )and knowing Hymee he will be shooting for the maximun safe power output , being higher then that of the 60hp advertised by Greddy

Hymee you have my PO BOX

cheers

just buy the jap spec greddy system and it will be a straight swap, just budget tuning in when you buy the kit.
The quality of the greddy kit looks really good from the us version and I'm sorry to say that hymee's supercharger doesn't look anywhere near as neat or thought out.
I hope the supercharger kit delivers the goods as it's cost is likely to be higher than a turbo kit as well.

The Greddy kit is NOT tunable. The maps in the E-manage are password protected, so you are stuck with the Greddy tune. Even MazdaManiac can't break into it.

I'm waiting for a local product as well. Importing just hurts the wallet too much (when your wallet isn't that big to start with).

Knowing how to wire it up and program your own maps could be though....

Otherwise, it looks like a top-notch kit. Good reports from the guys in the US so far about installing it and driving it. They estimate 230-240 rwhp. A couple of the guys are hitting the dyno on Jan 21.

The dyno figures will tell us how good the E-manage tuned Greddy Turbo kit is tuned , compared to Mazdamaniacs (Jeffs home brewed Turbo ).

Why would you want to have different maps for the Greddy tuned turbo , i am sure they would have picked the most driveable street tuned version to market .

cheers

I hope it works as as well.

I'm just curious to learn what is not neat or well thought out? WTF? Like we have 3 prototype CNC parts made. Not polished or anything. Is it cause the parts are sitting on an "old" looking motor from a wreck? At this stage of the packaging process, I'm afraid it is function over form. I have every reason to believe what we deliver will produce more "area under the curve" along with better driveability.

Anyway, I hope a healthy rebuttle doesn't count as a hijack!

Cheers,
Hymee.

PS - the comment about the cost is a bit unqualified as well.

so hymee... when's the kit available? havent been able to keep up with the other thread, it got too long :D
looking forward to that

mike, the reason for having different tune is because we have different climate and emissions. if i was getting one, i'd like to have the tunability of the E-manage

no offence meant hymee. maybe I should have waited to see the finished product. I just reckon that a turbo will always look like the cleaner install as you aren't confronted by the 20kg of supercharger hanging off the right side of the motor.

my comment on price is based on the norm; superchargers usually cost more than a turbo. for the turbo you need the exhaust and dump-pipe to be cast the intercooler is a std item and pipe work is cheep, as is oil and water lines.

a supercharger normally costs more than a turbo to begin with. then you have to fabricate a mount to the engine, an adaptor and bypass for the throttle body/inlet, you have an outlet/intercooler to manifold pipe that needs to be fabricated, you need pulleys and belts to drive it, you need a heat exchanger and water pump if the design is water to air.

you have a higher parts count you have more machining to be done after parts have been cast, you have higher compressor costs. that's what I'm basing my comment on. maybe the greddy kit is overpriced for a turbo conversion as is the rotor-master one but as competition increases prices will drop.

I hope your supercharger dose outperform the turbos, has the right price/performance ratio and looks like it was std equipment then I will be very interested in getting one.

JDM spec Greddy kit should fit and work on our cars.

The Emanage (included) is apparently pre-loaded with fuel maps which can be altered to a certain degree, so you should be right tuning the thing.

As for the limits of the kit, in my view, the 60whp is more than adequate for the time being.

i heard that people from japan have tested turbo's on the 8, and they seem to wear out the engine and cause malicious damage? is this true?

Dave

Hymee keeps his ETA of his Supercharger close to his chest however his Achilles heel is FOOD , so if we can get him down to your fine Italian restaurant fill him up with food and some vino(wine ) , we hopefully will have an answer :D

Did you get the brochure i left at your restaurant about the famous Hymee exhaust ?

cheers

I will choose HKS over Blitz/Greddy at anyday...

I will wait for more media coverage in Japan. The HKS is very new nojooc. It is only in the Tokyo show. When I get some article in Japan on it. I will email it to you.

Blitz is nice but I fear they might have problem. They admited they had a overheating problem and what sort of intercooler is with the kit?

I would also choose HKS over any other Jap aftermarket company anyday.

I look forward to your email Taka.

No worries mate, it's all good! Everyone has the right to pass judgement, and ask questions, so I suppose I have the right of rebuttle or to answer.

You gave a number of probably valid points in you costing rationale. And it seems to back up your original statement well. Anyway, we will see how the cost stacks up for the "no-lag" option :D

BTW - the blower is only 14kg and sits on top of the motor, slight offset to the left :p

Cheers,
Hymee.

ETA is when it is ready to be unleashed! I wish I could give an answer. Struth - this is less predictable than software development!!! I need a Timbo to the rescue! I'm sure I know what his fee will be!

This is more of an answer to Ezzy's comment about not keeping up with the thread...

https://www.rx8club.com/series-i-major-horsepower-upgrades-93/hymee-gets-supercharged-part-2-a-36376/

There are a few pics there posted early January.
