Got my car back...but....

Hi All

Got the car back with the new engine, run it in nice and easy for the first 1000kms.

Now my problem is , the engine light came on last night while I was on the M4 and it stayed on the whole way home. The car sounded fine.

The engine light was still on, after I turned the car off and started it again it didn't go away.

Is this anything to worry about?
It's such a hassle going back and forth to mazda.

I haven't used the car today, so when I get home I will see if the engine light still comes up.

Prolly something silly. Dealer it again, but continue to remind Mazda/Dealer how much of a hassle this is for you.

Good luck!!

If check engine light is steady and not blinking, you just had a code come up. Mine was on for over a month because the dealer messed up the "m" flash and deflashed it back to ""L". Some of the cars are having a problem with the CEL coming on and staying on fairly often. Mine seems to be one of those. I wouldn't worry too much unless the light is flashing. For now, just take it back to the dealer as soon as you get the chance. If it starts blinking, stop...pull over...call the 800 number and let them come tow your car unless you are right next to the dealer.

Yeah the light isn't blinking, it did that for like 2 seconds. It just stayed on while I was driving home.

I'll check when I get home today. Hopefully it is nothing. The car sounds fine though...

The car must have recorded the DTC code. The dealer will be able to tell exactly why the engine light is on... then again, someone's PCM is faulty and give all weird singal

Well the dealer should fix it for you, or someone could get a sCANalyser to you quick smart so you can do some self diagnosis!

Cheers,
Hymee.

From My Experience....... and I've had enough experience......

a) Cat Converter if code comes ups
b) CO2 sensor faulty

c) Stupid technician that flashed the PCM incorrectly.
- In my case, decided that the RX8 DIDNT come with DSC, and thus the ABS etc software wasn't installed, and the computer couldn't work out what the messages from this equipment was saying to it.

Try them all. Take it straight back to the dealer and tell them all of the above. You don't want it back until it's fixed. Expressly tell them the above problems.

Good luck....

Took my car back after the check engine light kept comming back on.
Mazda thbught it was a wiring problem. Fixed that, engine light was still on

The new engine that was just put in was the problem, it was leaking coolant.
So now I get a third engine!!!

I haven't had my car for almost 2 weeks....

Third time lucky I hope...

If it happens again, do I have a case to get my cash back?

That's very odd. You are sure it was a new engine put in, not a rebuilt one?

We've had reports of engines leaking coolant if they're revved hard before they're up to temp.....

No lemon law here, BTW....

Gomez - Is there nothing in AU law for 'lemons'?

I heard the US have a great law if your car goes back 3 times....That'd make sure companies are providing QUALITY cars.

Customer rights... its grand sometimes..
