Goodbye Yellow...

Dear friends,

The sad day finally arrived. I sold the 8 yesterday, to someone quite close to you all (I'll leave him to identify himself!).

Another big move is on the horizon. Leah and I are moving to the UK for a few years, working for my company in London. It'll be strange to return there, after 23 years living in Oz!

I've thoroughly enjoyed my 4 years of fun with the 8. Spent far too much money, but it was worth it! Meeting all of you folks, online and face to face, has been a wonderful bonus. Keep up the good work!

It's been a gas...:wavey:

Will

Cheers Will,

Best of luck with the move 'home' and let us know if you get back in a rotary once you're in the UK.

erx8s 04-29-2008 05:03 PM

Good luck with the trip to London Will , and congrats on the sale of your Yellow baby .

Having a punt here in guessing your car was purchased by............. Rick Shaw it would be cool to see a racing RX8 in Yellow

Cheers
Michael

jormatom 04-29-2008 10:48 PM

Hey Will.

All the best with the move back to the UK. Keep in touch and let us know how you are.

For those of you wondering who has the "yellow peril" now, well it's not me.

It's my brother!!!:Eyecrazy: :Eyecrazy:

Cheers

Will, best of luck, least you are heading out of the cold into the ........ hang on...... take the woolies with you just in case!!

Be interested to see what you pick up in the UK!! Slightly different equation with cheaper european cars and higher fuel prices!! (about $2.40 a litre!!)
Good luck with the move

Bumble_Bee 04-30-2008 06:52 PM

I'm sure it was hard...

I can't imagine saying Good-bye to my Yellow... :(

yellowrx8inoz 05-01-2008 06:13 AM

It was hard, Bee...

I couldn't watch him drive it away!

Don't worry Will. It's in good hands.

All the cars and Harleys he has owned have been kept in immaculate condition. He has already arranged for the nose and other minor battle scars to be repaired and resprayed.

Don't worry Macca, I'm working on it. I've done the first 3 so I don't want to miss one.

Always a sad day when you sell your 8, Will...but hey, at least it sounds like it's gone to a good home (but then I recall the Avdoulos boys had a...er....'troubled' adolescence when it came to cars :eyetwitch )

Anyway, once you get to the UK, with fuel prices at $2.40+ AND living in London...you'll soon conclude there's only one car to get...the Polo GTI (of, course, that rationalisation means I have no excuse!)

Hmmmm....on reflection, you might also want to look at the hot Clio...and the Abarth Fiats could be fun, either the 500 or the Punto...then there's some of the hot diesels we don't see.............................:uhh: :squint:

You wouldn't happen to be talking about the blown 351 falcon would you? :)

The key word here timbo is "adolescence". We have grown up and matured since then. :eyetwitch

Although, a phone call I received this afternoon from my brother suggests some forced induction engine mods are in the offering for ol' YELRX.

Looks like the "yellow peril" will soon be the "yellow blur"

Oh jeez...

If it's done before I go, I bags the first non-owners' drive! Otherwise book me in when I'm back on shore leave...

Thanks timbo - we're also selling an Eos before we go, so we've sampled VW's latest offerings (he says, risking derision from Revolver).

A supermini of some sort will probably do the job in the UK!

Sounds good; adding to the colourful rainbow of FI 8's appearing in Victoria! We have reds, blue, black, "purple" and potentially yellow. Anyone with a white contender out there?

:Eyecrazy: :Eyecrazy: :wavey:

Hahaha, that's okay Will - horses for courses. And we all buy VW's as we get older it seems...:p: :rollingla :rollingla

Besides, it's so grey and miserable over there it doesn't matter!

(was just speaking to my sis and bro in law on skype this morning - they're living in Primrose Hill atm and were whining about the rain  :) ).

xatnep 05-04-2008 04:58 AM

Thanks Stu, the Cappuccino's going into storage for a while until we decide how long we'll be in London (and also where we might go after that!).
