mine are full atm with few other bits and pieces (my rear cup holders have few perfume bottles sittin in them.. and front ones have my stock shift **** and some valve caps i got..... my mobile fone sits in there 2 lol) and work isnt far from the cafe i went, it sure was enuff time to do damage tho!i had the cups in tray at bottom of passenger seat on the floor, made sure it sat in a way it didnt move, but slam the brakes on and it moves!

sif you buy a RX8 for economical transportation. I know i sure as hell don't. Now that i'm working, there is more money, and im less concerned about fuel because i have less time to drive it anyway. But when i do, you know im going to be burying my right foot in the carpet.

Contrary to popular belief, keeping the revs down will not necessarily improve your economy. Climbing a hill in 5th gear at 3000rpm may be less economical than dropping to 4th gear and revving at 4000rpm. depends on the load on the engine.
Proper use of the throttle will most certainly help somewhat. For example stomping your foot to the floor and then letting go when you reach required speed is a LOT less economical than feathering the throttle up as required.
I have done some extensive (but unscientific) testing in the CX-7 as it has current fuel consumption figures on the dash. Both of these are going to gain next to $%^& all improvement, _maybe_ in the double digit k's per tank but I thought I would mention it.
If we drove on flat roads with no traffic lights we would more than likely get more k's per tank but we dont.
All that being said, who gives a ****! It has been a "Feature" of the rotary since day one. I love the fact i can boot the crap out of my car and use just as much fuel as if I granny it (which as has been said should be illegal
).

I agree with you completely ... I get 450km regardless of whether I baby it or whether I drive it enthusiastically on my normal commute to uni and work on the same roads.
The best economy I've had so far was quite recent actually ... 608km off a tank ... literally ran out of petrol as soon as I got to the petrol station :P

I cannot understand how you can get 600k from a tank. Thats 10.1L/100km! Even Mazdas figures are 12.6 for 6mt. I have done 500km in a single stretch up the Hume sitting on Cruise at 100/110km. I had no issues putting 58 litres into the car when I filled up.

Hey, I just drive it ... I've always had a way of driving more efficiently in comparison to others. I don't do it intentionally either.
Here's something wierd though ... when I filled up that time, it took just over 64 litres, yet our tanks are 61 litres. I reckon either that pump was not calibrated properly (which means I paid for 3 litres I didn't get) or we have a reserve tank. Do we have a reserve?

One of the companies I work with does work with fuel bowsers. They get service about every 6 months and by the end of the 6 months they are reading (as you noticed) more fuel delivered than actual, but 3 litres is a little excessive.
