finally, thinking of converting...

no, not my religion or sexual preferences...

yes, I am thinking of putting in the hymee's exhaust finally...
need to have something big done to the car and i couldn't wait 3 years until the warranty runs out.. worst comes to worst I could probably replace the stock back..
plus I couldn't resist great price value of hymee's

well, i have heard the note a few times from the meetups b4.. although I will really need to drive it myself to feel what it is like.
what are experience of some ppl who have ordered from Sydney area like?
how long b4 u received the goods? any mishaps??
where and how much did it cost to have the thing installed at the mechanics?
any recommendations??

well, thanks in advance from this curious lad..

Well I'm not in Sydney obviously....but mine got here pretty quickly...no mishaps. Get it installed by an exhaust shop (or someone with access to an oxy torch), as the orig muffler has the rest of the car built around it! Do not attempt the job yourself without an oxy kit.....much grief will result. Cost me $50 to get it fitted.

Allow a few days for the system to carbon up internally.....it can seem a little noisy when it's first installed....

Every time i see a stock standard RX8 , and listen to the exhaust it makes me shudder at the wimphy note its embarrassing .

The Hymee exhaust gives the RX8 the voice it deserves :D THE ONLY DOWN SIDE IS THAT I FIND I DELIBERATELY CHANGE DOWN ONE OR TWO GEARS JUST TO HEAR THE RUMBLE OF THE EXHAUST OR DRIVE THE LONG WAY TO THE NEAREST TUNNEL .

So my petrol bills have increased since i got my exhaust :p

I have keeped the stock exhaust in case i sell the RX8 IN THE FUTURE to some whimp that wants the car stock standard .

cheers
michael

I've kept my old exhaust too...and it's a PITA, the damn thing is huge and it's taking up way too much space in my pitifully small shed. But the minute I toss it, I'll have a guy living two doors down want to buy it off me to quieten down his kids Torana.....

Does anyone else love the "feathering" of the Hymee system when you initiate deceleration.......that split second where you relax the pressure on the pedal and the light burble rumbles thru the car like a super quiet exhaust brake?

Playa78 talk to 8A8Y 8 about his exhaust.

I was sort of the middle man in that instance, but as far as i know Phillip was very happy with the delivery time and after taking it to a good exhaust shop got the job done right

Sounds good too.. I just cant justify it when going to see clients i need to keep it as stock as possible

Regards
Phillip

:D Mmmm - love it. I was waiting for someone to mention that. I have noticed it since the first day. I have not heard any talk about this "feature" on any other RX-8 systems. Maybe it is the value add I need

I notice it only does it on very slight throttle openings, when decelerating. It is fun to try to "make it last". Oh no - there is a line someone will jump on...

I find it hard to describe, and would not have thought of the exhaust brake example. The closest I have heard is a similar sound I heard when the V8 supercars feather the throttle going into turn 1 at Queensland Raceway. One of my mates reckons he heard a simialr sound from the Gp.A Sierras at Lakeside all those years ago.

It is just a nice little burble, and you can almost miss it.

Cheers,
Hymee.

Choppy - you need to get a Camry if you are visiting clients and want to be plain!

I am thinking about an exhaust as well. How much does the Hymee exhaust cost? Does anyone know a good place in Melbourne to get it fitted? Also, if anyone has some pictures that would be good too.

hymee exhaust price

$450 for mild annodised steel
$750 for stainless steel
$50 for shipping to Sydney (as quoted by hymee)
just wondering what people's preferences are in terms of the tips.
I see that there are two types. kind of like the long version but short one looks neat too..
does the carbon build up really quick and make it all black? I hate the way the stock ones become black in the bottom half hahha
also any difference in the way they sound?

The short taper is the way to go, but I AM biased......

Yes, the tips carbon up really quickly, you'd have to wash them every few days if you were the fussy type. That is the same with whatever system you put on.

I doubt if there is any difference in the way the two types sound.
