EOI: Sydney skidpan day

I'm trying to organise a skidpan day for us bored Sydney siders. Before we decide on anything, I need to get a fair idea of the # of attendees we can get for the day.

Express your interest in this thread + any suggestions you might have for the day.

Date
1) Its almost impossible to get a weekend date @ Eastern Creek so it will have to be mid-week. Hopefully, you've all been good @ work and wont have a problem getting a day off =) The date will definitely be mid-late April or early May depending on skidpan availability.

Price
2) Sydney's Eastern Creek skid-pan is way more expensive and so expect to pay more than what the Victorians recently paid. (IIRC, they paid around $120ish?)
The good thing is, our skid pan is bigger and better and we can basically have two cars on the pan at once. This is of course, a good thing as we get almost double the driving time than our Victorian friends

Provided we have around 20 cars for the day, expect to pay ~$250/driver. Slightly more if we have less cars. Again, once we have enough expressions of interest, we can work out how much each driver will have to fork out etc.

We will have two instructors for the day, and it will be split in 2 session, morning and afternoon.

If you've ever tried to get into one of those O'Neill track/skid pan days, you'll know how much demand there is in Sydney for this sorta stuff! Places get filled in hours!

Hopefully we'll be able to fill the 20 spots without problems..if not, then we might have to resort to allowing non-rx8's to participate.

Its a perfectly safe and controlled environment to get a and will give us a better idea of what our 8's are capable of with the DSC OFF :P

Anyway, looking forward to any suggestions you guys might have anddd please try to keep this thread on topic!

I'm not sure if you're aware of how big the Eastern skidpan really is! Its massively huge..even if both cars spin out totally, and end up travelling from one end of the pan to another, theres a 1/1000 chance they'll actually collide.

Err.. take it easy!

It wasnt said to offend you, or anyone else for that matter. The reason for that statement is because compared to what you guys paid for your skidpan day, we will be paying almost double.

Obviously people are going to ask why, and the simple reason for that is because Eastern creek has the BEST skidpan facility in the whole of Australia and due to it being so popular and so big, costs to have an event there are more than what anyone else would pay at any other track.

Having said that, I'm not going to retract my statement as there was nothing wrong with what i said. Any experience trackie will tell you Eastern Creek's skidpan facilities are better than any other in Australia.

Assuming that the pan is SOOO big *** that it is 1000m away? I am sure they must have thought of that.

Taka, beginner classes @ Eastern Creek skidpan days (ask your friend luke o'neill) usually have 2 cars on at the same time. Have yet to hear of a day when two cars spun out and collided with each other

Kunz,

Count me in. I just need a couple weeks notice to get a flex organised.

Been to that skidpan before its more like a figure 8 and to my knowlegde there is always 2 cars going in the one go. Should be safe enough as long as we don't tailgate each other . Should be fun.

Cheers

Chris

If we don't get enough people to do an RX8 only day, I can get a few other guys that go down there all the time to come.

Cheers

Chill Kal, Chill! Of course its war, and I believe I started it with some comments I made, but its all in good humour.

Actually there is a skid pan and a skid circuit. Its the skid circuit that is a figure 8. You can see it in these http://www.eastern-creek-raceway.com...eneral_Map.pdf and http://www.eastern-creek-raceway.com...addock_Map.pdf and http://www.eastern-creek-raceway.com..._arial_550.jpg

You may have on this round Sydney, but our round was cheaper ! :-D

my .02

Kunal, maybe a good idea to advertise in other forums, and make it a mixed event to get the numbers.... it was near impossible to get 20 RX8's for a sunday cruise, let along finding 20 sydney RX-8s to do skidpan.....

lets be mature about it.... we all know very well that sydney is the best city in oz... ;-p lets not make it another "competition".....
