Eibach pro-kit Query

Has anyone ordered an Eibach pro-kit from the US and had it fitted to their aussie Rx8? I'm just trying to ascertain whether there is any fundamental in the US and Aus models suspension-wise. I'm actually trying to get it for my Mx5 NC, but just wanted to test waters with Rx8 owners. Reason I ask is that its basically 1/2 the cost from the US.

Possibly, but at what cost? Besides the Eibach pro-kit is designed to work well with stock shocks.

I have heard that US-sourced suspension components don't work so well with Aussie cars in that they drive on the other side of the road and the springs have a different loading for the LHS to compensate for the driver's weight. This will leave your car lop-sided.

Can anyone cofirm this is true though? It does make sense.

This doesn't make any sense to me. You wouldn't use different springs to calibrate for LHS driving compared to RHS. You'd use consitent suspension set up and tweak the steering alignments surely?

yeh the different loading doesnt make any sense because then they would have to label left and right as well as front and back springs
but us spec and aussie spec not so weird, my brother (has a ford cougar) had problems getting parts for his car as the us spec and aussie spec are different, but then his car is a bit uncommon

When I ordered my Eibach springs for my MX5 there was only one part number for the fronts and one part number for the rears which tells me that the springs fit either lhd or rhd cars. Also the individual springs I received could be fitted to either side of the car.
Obviously the fronts differ from the rears in length (though some people have mistakenly fitted them the wrong way round with - er - interesting handling)

Sorry, so what your'e saying is that you feel pretty sure Eibach springs are consistent in a particualr model accross different lcoations (Aust, USA etc)?

Also, did you order from within Aust or USA?

lucifuge - Ordered within Australia - part number was consistant no matter where you order them from....
It may pay to check the Eibach website for more info as I got mine 2 years ago.

Well that's the funny thing. I can get the Eibach part no. easily from the USA. I then emailed Eibach in Australia and asked if they knew off any difference between the two. Suspecting I was going to get it cheaper they replied '" errr , umm , sorry, we can't give out the part no.s"
