East Coast Targa Rally

Gentlemen start your engines!

Survived scrutineering today and we are all ready for the start of the East Coast Targa Rally, first car leaves from Hornsby Mall 10am sharp WED 27th Oct heading North towards the Mooney Mooney bridge for the firtst leg of the special stages.

For updates on progress you can visit www.eastcoasttarga.com.au

In a full field of 120 entrants the RX8 will be battling against the clock amongst Europes finest with a strong contigency of Porsches & Ferraris.....

I will have incar video footage with all the action throughout the various stages, thanks to a device clalled a Manfrotto pump cup which allows for my DV to be securely positioned.......will post after the rally!
Grip comes from new 18x8 wheels with TOYO Proxe RA-1 competition tyres, and recently installed a new hi-flo cat with complete new mid section....... This mod offerd me a 4KW gain at the rear wheels.

Here are some pics from todays scrutineering!!! :D :D

EDIT: I did not know you are with Luke at the race. Say hello to ONeill for me. I am the man bring him business at Sandown coming trackday 16 Nov...

GOOD LUCK team ONeill

On the way to the office this morning in Lane Cove, I was wondering what was going on as all these ferraris and porsche where coming past with heavy heavy mods on them.

One sweet GT3 that came cruising past ohh man.. it looked sweet.

Hi Guys,

Day 1 was pretty awsome, with 3 cars deciding to leave the black stuff early in the event. Lintotts Porsche was the first casulty on the first special stage.
Overall the RX8 is kicking some serious butt, problem is we have to slow down as we are coming in much too early before the recommended time control for the Touring category........ Looks like competition category for next years event considering were matching some of the Prosches & Ferrari's.
Tommorrow kicks off from Eastern Creek and ends up in Bathurst for a parade through the main streets at 6.30pm.
I've got some awsome incar footage and these TOYO proxes are like suction cups!! :D
Will have more pics by the end of the event and will down load some special stages with incar action!
Mt Panorama here we come!!!!!!!!!!!

AMG HSR did not sponsor me, PROTEC is a Henry Schein company and has no real affiliation with Regional other than being a part of Henry Schein.

Unhappy Some one died today

I just heard one of the driver was killed after suffering from a heart attack, slaming his white Porsche to the bank.

A sad day. I will try to catch it in my PCTV - hehe my new toy.

Damn I set and record the wrong TV station and I missed the Ten news who had the coverage. The usual VCR accident :p. It was a heart attack, pending post mortem.

AMG I have Pinnacle PCTV which only cost $65. I was intended to get something to record analogue VCR signal from but found out I brought the wrong thing. At the moment I am breaking the frequentcy of the VCR signal and match that with PCTV - then I can record the US scan type of my baby :p

I see if there is a coverage on Ten later about this rally. I will record it in MPEG or DivX form.

Hi Guys,

Well what can I say....... WE f*%$#@ SURVIVED EAST COAST TARGA 2004, it was a great 4 days, with only a radioshack stopwatch and a trusted right foot with no terratrips computing speed, time and distance. We mananged 21 out of 48 in the Modern Touring class. Mike Reedy a well known name in motosport had the pleasure of experiencing a brand new RX8; he was totally blown away with the cars dynamics straight from the show room floor, he commented how the chassis was light years ahead of the RX7..... Now bring on the TURBO'.The reason you see 1997 RX8 3.2L is that Mike was scheduled to drive a BMW M3 in competition. The RX8 was offered by John Davis mazda and they didnt have enough time to throw a cage in it to enter competition so they blew the field in the Touring.

Guys I have in car video footage of every stage, and some awsome Mt Panorama stuff with AKA DAKA blasting out of the BOSE as I blasted out of the chicanes.
Choppy I may need your help with downloading some of the footage, so PM to arrange a time to meet with all you IT Gurus.
The car did not miss a BEAT!, used very little oil over 1500 kays and made friends with the rev limiter on a daily basis. The best part of this whole experience is coming home without a scratch or mechanical hicup!

With regards to our fellow enthusiast who unfortunately lost his life doing what he loved most...... competative motorsport The accident was attributed to driver error, where they were trying to make up lost time through a restricted speed zone. Most of you would have seen some video footage on the news, and this guy left the black stuff at astronomical speeds. It was a sad day for motorsport and reminds us all that life is precious and we all need to respect the dynamics of our machines and our level of skill.

Guys I highly recommend we form an RX8 Team spirit for next years event, the organisers have a ROOKIE package for first timers and we found this to be the best way to get involved in a competative event. The EAST COAST TARGA is the first TARGA to have a timed event in the TOURING catergory!

Look forward to catching up with you all later in the month, there will be a spirited drive organised possibly PUTTY ROAD! and a lunch at one of the Wineries, I believe GIBBO has some ideas for venues. Will keep you posted on the date!

Cheers :D :D :D
