Question E-Toll Tag placement on the windshield

I'm too lazy to look in the manual...

Just got my E-Toll tag and before i stick it to the windshield, I was wondering the best placement for it? Just above the rear vision mirror in the black dotted area or underneath it?

Right above the mirror in the blacked out area. It's as ugly as sin, and up there you can't see it. Works great.

I'm gonna move mine higher too. For some reason I tohught it had to be in line of sight - just goes to show how much I know of matters electronic.

Would love it if they could come out with a smaller, black unit that is less obstrusive.

Hit the Citylink website. They'll send you a new bracket out for free. I got a new one last week, my old one got loose and the damn thing rattled. I just brute forced the old one off.

Cool, thankies. All installed, and the mirror hides the fugly beige box (well mostly anyways)

Was thinking i had to have it almost halfway down the windshield....

Tell you what you should do...

Stick the e-Toll / e-Tag into your middle console. Have the white facing up, and magic.. it still works!

No ugly e-Tag on my windscreen, but a quiet beep from my centre console!! Try it... you'll see!

I'm not sure if the Sydney tags are the same but I don't have any "white". Do you mean the "hole-side" facing up?

Cheers,
John

Wow why do you have your eToll? And I wonder if the eTag work under the Harbour bridge :D?

I replaced the eTag to the centre top (black area) where Gomez suggested. It looks good.

It beeped...

Have to slow to 30km/Hr through the plaza - very scary as the beep does not happen until very close to the gate...

Taka, the City Link e-tag works on all Sydney toll roads - but you get charged an extra 15% for the privilege. I was there in my 8 last Christmas, and it worked a treat - no more fumbling for coins on Sydey toll roads!

Sang...

See the black bit above the mirror. Stick it there. Position it in the centre of the window so make it nicer.

I have seen my friend's eTag in Sydney. It has a similar look/size. So the black portion of windscreen above the rear view mirror will cover the eTag and hard to be seen from the outside.

BTW it is actually where Adrain (XXUP) has placed.

Jazzy has it put in the compartment behind the cup holder and it will work.

Yes personally tested by mistake.

I was going to use the other eTag/account and put my one in the compartment but both beeped :

You have to put it under the seat for no beep aparantly

Greetings All,

I was recently a part of a tour on the nearly opened Western Orbital in the West of Sydney and the staff there said that each E-tag in the car (doesn't matter who supplied it) will most likely beep and therefore record a charge unless it is wrapped in aluminium foil or put back in the foil lined envelope that they come in and put in the glove box.

So go get that foil and problem solved !

Regards
Jeffneil

FFS - Why you need 2 in the car?

Yes - my QLD originated one works on the Sydney toll roads. It is a national system now. I didn't know about a 15% surcharge. That's rude, if it is true.

Cheers,
Hymee.
