The Driftbox. Cheaper version of V Box

I am sure you heard of the V BOX. It was used for the test of handling olympics in the lastest version of Wheels magazine.

Now you can "afford" one. www.driftbox.com

For £465.00 you can have this advanced product. It is a GPS and gyroscope in one I think.

It can do drifting data and ...

For trackie like me, it is a laptimer that ables me to do telemetry analysis

It's that simple, from then on, every time you pass the start / finish line a new laptime appears on the screen, and is recorded onto the SD card.

6 Splits can be defined in a similar manner, and you can freeze corner exit speeds by using the Speed @Split function.

There is a 99 lap memory, with every lap and split recorded to the SD card for later analysis.

As usual with DriftBox there are a host of other features such as modes for slalom courses, a one-shot mode for Sprint circuits, different options for split times, and you can load and save all start / finish and split points to a file on the SD card
Only if I have $1200,.... goodbye . Where is my powerball ticket.

Someone told me never buy a first generation of anything but it is SOOOOOOOO temping

Nice find Andrew - it is kind of hard to set up on the track though - inner and outer circle - it is certainly easier for the bikes.

I just love the inner/outer track feature which then lets you do my favourite part, the racing line mapping. You can then break a track up into sectors and keep times through those sectors.

Unfortunately its like 8/900AUD! I have a $120 GPS unit....wonder what I can develop myself :-D

You can do it with driftbox - and you don't need to map it out in the first instance.

Just go over the start/finish line slowly and press set. Then go around and it will map everything you go past.

So you can map your race line and pro driver race line - if you like and compare.

Driftbox is AUD$1200

OK lah...I stand corrected. Its embarrasing how simple it was to find. I really musnt have been looking.

However the features are different. The drift box is basically a single line representing your line, which you can overlay with 3 other lines to compare. The blackline product allows you to individually look at the angles and line you took through the course. Basically the difference is that you can put your line into perspective with the course, as opposed to in perspective with other laps.

my 2c worth

my 2c too

Use your imagination.

In fact you can do the same as the other one and plot the outer and inner line as well. Look carefully at the plot in the link - they even plot the pit and the toilet run nearby
