Draining engine coolant, which nut is it?
Draining engine coolant, which nut is it?
Hello-
i tried to search DIY for engine coolant change.
In the photo, i've reached to three nuts, but wasn't sure which one is actually 14mm and correct one...lol
also...i couldn't loose it..too hard. perhaps i need better tool, or muscle!
(is the circled one right for aus rx8 as well? or is it one next to it? i'm confused that US model and aus/nz model have different allocations. )

Very few things get moved between LHD and RHD. The sump and engine is NOT one of the things...its the same nut. As for which size spanner, if the nut isnt rounded, and an 13 doesnt fit, a 15 is loose and a 14 fits, my guess is that its a 14
Be very carfull with cheap tools as they have crappy tolerances and even though its a 14 spanner, will have enough play in it that you will end up rounding the nut. If you have done that then get a replacement nut first, then use a set of lock jaw pliers to get the bugger off.
Cheers
Andrew

How do you just drain radiator?? I saw on the forum, and tried to find more about it, tried to locate it and i failed. could you please tell me how?
reach under on the passenger side in front of the wheel and it's on the closest corner of the radiator .
you only drain part of the coolant this way but that's how most modern cars are these days. that's why you should use water and a concentrate mix and allow for the residual coolant in the block. remember to use deionized water and not tap water to refill or a high ethylene glycol concentration pre mix.
