does any elses's brakes squeek? like full on dodgy squeeking that is so excruciating to the naked ear..
like the brakes aren't low or anything they just squeek. i tried getting them de-glazed once and they're squeeking again omggg

My brakes were sqeeking very very badly, they de glazed them and it made it go away for about 4 weeks, however the sqeek is starting to come back, but I think new pads and rotors should fix that.

Yeah mine are squeeking too.. really faint though enough to bring them to Ezzy's attention who informed me of it.

 

Mine don't squeek. Could the problem be due to travelling on roads where there is a lot of oil dumped, or have very soft tar, or indeed where there is a lot of diesel exhaust emitted close to the ground? Glazing could be due to deposition of oily crud which subsequently oxidizes, or to deposition of the binding material used in the brake pads. The squeek is made by a high frequency slip-grip action of the pad on the disk.

I know my discs rust very quickly. I get a light yellow film within minutes of the discs getting wet - it looks like the iron mineral goethite. However, it polishes off with the first light brake application

 

I agree it has to do with driving conditions. Mine have squeeked a bit when I spent an extensive period where my daily driving was Sydney peak hour traffic. But once I got back to a more regular, higher speed, less stop-start drive, it disappeared.

 

Ditto, only when there is lotsa peak driving, ususally flames off pretty quickly with a cruise.

 

Mine used to squeek as well when I used to spend a fair bit of time in peak hour traffic.
It's a lot better these days since I use the back streets to get to work and the traffic flow is continuous.

Mine used to squeel a little. I don't remember when they stopped squeeking. Maybe one of the braking areas fixed it.

Yeah, I've tried that, too. How do you get the frikin' stuff to stay on, though?

 

Had the 10,000k service done Friday, told the service guy that I had some intermittent squealing from the brakes, they degalzed pads and dedusted the rotors, driving home brakes still squealing.
Rang service guy today and quoted the American Mazda service bulletin re brake pad replacement, he rang Mazda and yes they are going to replace my pads under warranty.
I believe they will replace pads over 4mm wear, if you have Squealing brakes.

BTW, mine's VelRed (the fasta one ) and has never squeaked

 

When someone plows into the back of your car during the next cruise, don't come crying to me buddy :D .

 

I have really bad squeal from my brakes. My dealer told me that they did not notice any thing. It happens under moderately hard braking....so they may not have been able to induce a squeal.

Now that a dealer has accepted responsibility to fix the issue it may be worthwhile trying again.

Does anyone know if this recall fix actually works?

So when you are crusing, you ummmm... don't use the brakes, and therefore they erm... don't squeek as much? Hmmm....
