Comments on "Design" features

I would welcome your comments on the following

1. Front Number plate holder
Certainly doesn't fit an Australian plate nor does it seem to fit a US style one either. Didn't really want to start drilling numerious holes in my personalised plate .

2. Rear wheel arches
There appears to be "clear plastic" covering parts of the paint work. How does this hold up to washing/polishing. Does it peal or get ratty edges over time ?

3. Rear wheel sound proofing
This stuff almost seems like is should only be inside the car. What is it made of, does it deteriate/rot over time with washing and how do you get stuff other that dirt off it

thanks

My comments

On 1: I cut mine to size using a stanley knife
On 2: No ratty edges or peeling after 9 months and a number of washes
On 3: Nothing noticed yet. I've had it quite muddy and it cleaned up easily with a bit of detergent.

1: I didn't see much point in modifing the mount the # plate and mount don't flop round and I don't notice the miss-match as it is black like the grill.

2: one corner of my clear things is comming up after 3-4months; polish is a bitch to clean from around the edges, but they do stop chips so I'm not that worried.

3 never noticed :D

Same as Sco.

Only difference being that after initially cutting my plate mount down with a Stanley knife I later got slimline black plates with white numbers.

I put a narrow black clip on trim around it (to hide the white line) and attached it directly to the grille. Looks MUCH better than the big clunky thing that was on there in the first place.

The plate holder size seems to be a "one size fits all" design that doesn't fit most plates all that well! Some states, countries, territories or whatever do have big clunky plates like that though. Spoils the look of the front of the car IMO.

1. No frame on mine. Slimline plate.

2. No peeling as yet. Polish comes of with fingernail, corner of rag, or toothbrush.

3. Standard Mazda design it seems. Wifies Mazda 6 is the same. Has not presented any dramas.

Cheers,
Hymee.

The number plate holder is for the Jap market- Jap number plates are shorter and wider, almost square. If you ever see a Jap import (Supra, Soarer etc) you'll notice that a normal Aus 6-digit does not fit too well.

Like BVD, the best thing to do is drill 2 holes in the number plate- I was hesitant about doing this but the end result is quite good.

I'll take a pic and post if you like.
