Question In car dvd player

Ok i know this should be in the car audio section but i thought i might post it here.
Has anyone install a dvd player in the car and wired it through the orginal mazda stereo??
All i wanna do is to have the dvd player and still be able to use the steering wheel controls
Has anyone done that yet? if you have, what should i do?
I been to a few places and ask but they said that you will lose the steering wheel controls if you connect the player

any help will be apreciated

thanks
phillip

Before you do, DVD screens that can be seen by the driver may soon be banned, also, check breaking news :

I second that dbb...

8aby 8. Did you get the RMagic 1 Din case from Japan 8. Gee that is nice. Hope you only watch it when the car is steady though.

Btw I love the 1Din and the meter thing on the ashtray, since I don't like DVD so I will only get the meter thing - but $400 just for the case is too much :o

To answer your question 8aby 8, I think you may have to get a cheap aux input to the tape/MD slot. There must be a way around it ... but I am not sure it is compatiable to steering control

dbb,

They are illegal to operate while driving. When companies install them they but a switch that the unit only works when the handbreak is up.

Phillip i dont like your chances to hooking it up onto the steering wheels controls. But for the AUX inputs i saw a thread in Car Audio section where the person hooked the source directly to the back of the BOSE systems AMP.

I got no time to find it now but if you look it should be possible.. even look at the electrics of the car.. FM mods are not that good as you do lose quality.

Have you installed the Unit i want to have a look.

Regards
Phillip

I am with you Philip. While you have In dash DVD sitting at home, why not putting into the new car?

Good luck with it...

Hi Phillip

Overloads aux-in via tape works really well and costs about $150 to do. when you hook up your dvd player and want audio via your system just press tape/md button and sound is excellent. have a dvd player in my 6 and used fm modulator and sound quality is poor.

Let me know when you finish setting it up, would love to take a look.
