Calling Timbo/Canberra Owners

Guys,

I've been keeping an eye on these boards for the last few months, and you lads seem to be a bunch of dedicated (read "fanatical"!) owners.
I'm pretty keen on picking up an 8 now after reading the glowing reports you've all written about them, giving up on the F6 Typhoon idea (I prefer my clutches to work).
Anyways, I'm in Canberra and would prefer a colour that isn't so common (which means red is out).
Timbo, what colours have we got running around Canberra?
Did you buy yours locally?
Any advice?

Tim
(the other Tim)

P.S. Timbo - thanks for knicking my User Name, and leaving me with THIS!!!

Hey, welcome to the forum, and its great to hear there's likely to be another grinner down here....

We Tims have great taste :o ...and Tim Tam has been my alter ego on those occasions Timbo has been previously taken

Let's see.... in Canberra, to speak to, there are four Vel Red owners, two Brill Blacks, a Tit Grey and a very rare Nordic Green. On the road, I also see other Tit Greys (IMO, the most popular colour in Canberra, neck & neck with Sun Silver). Not many of the blues down here, esp Strat Blue which is pretty nice, I reckon.

Of course, nothing beats a nice shiney Vel Red in the sun....:D

PM me and I'd be happy to meet up, and give you my experience first hand, including who to buy from and how

Tim

So Timbo was going to use TimTam, but it was too TempTim for to go with Timbo. So now we have another Timbo but we have to call him TimTam. :D

Cheers,
Hymee.

Thanks for the advice fellers. I've looked around a little at second hand 8 prices, but these things seem to hold their value pretty well. Best to go new and run it in the way I'd like to, rather than take pot luck.

Saw a Brill Black on the road yesterday Timbo, it was sooooooooooo shiny and looked very spesh. I don't think I could own anything that people are going to refer to as "Tit Grey", so before I buy I'll try to find some blues somewhere to have a gander at.

I seem to change my colour preference each week, I think my indecisiveness is going to drive me insane (but I'm not really sure about that).

Thanks for the offer of meeting up Timbo, very keen to do that as I need to hear what "Hymee's outlets" sound like. I'll get in touch when we're getting ready to get serious.

Black...and shiny! Sounds like pepe. Looks fantastic but a bastard to keep that way. Sorry, didn't mean to put you off with my abbreviation -- unintended. My pre-order was actually Titanium Grey, but when I saw the Velocity Red demo, I changed my mind. Luckily, there was another pre-order customer who wanted to swap, so it all worked out well.

Tim2, I know the feeling. I bought my Winning Blue RX-8 by eliminating all the other colours on the palette. Black was the first to go.....having just sold my first and last black car

Stop thinking of a metallic colour!

Unless you don't want to touch up the stone chips.

I have black ones and I have to admit it looks good in real life but does not do much in hte photos. It is hard to keep clean but it is easy to keep it shiny.

My car is in the garage 5 out of 7 days of the week but I do wash it everyday. If I don't have a garage at home or work. I will go for silver.

I think I was the sucker for the back and red leather and I still am! Only if I have my hand on a white RX-8

Afternoon All

Sounds like I've found a bunch of like minded individuals.

Yes I am the proud owner of a Titanium leather pack, new to Canberra. The car is, not me. I've had it less than two weeks and already washed it 3 times and spent many hours polishing.

On the subject of second hand in Canberra, Braddon Auto have a Black leather for about 56K, Mazda Philip had two ex Mazda managers cars for "on the road 54k" (may get more).
I ended up in Melbourne for mine, low 50s. It's a 2004 car 14500 kms.

Hope to catch up at a meet sometime.

Steve

G'day Sqz,
Sounds like we'll be able to start up a Canberra chapter of the RX-8 club, Wakefield here we come!

Those who have had black cars, would any of you go back for back again? Like Taka, I am also a fanatical washer (but not EVERY DAY!).

Gomez, Winning Blue was last week's favourite, but is by no means off the list. I need to see one in the flesh (and Starto Blue). I'm going to try to ring Mazda Oz, and see if they can tell me which dealers have which colours in stock, then go look at them.

G'day Steve

Welcome to the forum. Must be something in the water at the moment ... 8's abound.

We should see if we can meet up. Perhaps, I'll get off my @rse and set something up.
