According to their website it looks like you need SynPower brake fluid.. See http://www.valvoline.com.au/products...&category=FCQK

I suspect that it has to do with all those little seals in the ABS valve unit.. I don't know what the one on the RX-8 looks like on the inside, but the Honda prelude in the mid-80s had lots of little rubber seals..

I am 100% sure it is DOT 4 that is used in our car. I have check with Melbourne City Mazda, Victoria's Mazda Australia quarter and another dealer (Brighton) before I put my Motul RBP 600 (which is DOT 4 based) in.

I think DOT 3 and DOT 4 are the same compound but just DOT4 better than 3. However, I think DOT 5 is totally/partially difference and it is not good for the lines we are using (this info is from Motul). RBP 600 has the highest rating and it is DOT 4 based. PERFECT

looks like i need to take my glasses next time and read the fine print

Taka i am sure you are using the best product available as allways AT $$$$

I am getting Royal Purple oil for my differential and my transmission apparently its better than Redline oil , the only downside is they want you to buy it bulk , but i managed to get a 6 litre pack to try out at cost he he he .

cheers
