The Best way to Noosa ....
Oh Wise forum members ...
Am heading to Noosa or some sun, surf and sleep. This will be my first long trip in the 8... YIPPEE.
My question is which would be the best route, the coast or new england. Any advice would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks Rob
Also -
Any suggestions for enjoyable drives around the SE Qld what the RX8 and I may enjoy around the sunshine coast area.

Drives around the Sunshine coast... you should do the run from Landsborough to Nambour via Montville. Great views.
On the way back to Brisbane, drive back through Mt Mee, Mt Glorious and Mt Nebo... but give yourself plenty of time... you may want to go back and do it again

The Pacific highway is slightly shorter and quicker, but there are heaps of speed cameras to contend with (like about 20). All are sign posted though. The Pacific highway aslo makes it easier to bypass the Brisbane traffic by taking the Gateway Arterial around the eastern side of Brisbane.
The New England has less traffic and less cameras. If you chose that route, it would give you an excuse to take Thunderbolts way, which is a good fun drive. The turn off is just before Karuah and brings you out just before of Armidale.
The New England route brings you into Brisbane via the South Western suburbs though, so you would have to fight quite a bit of traffic to get through to the other side of town and on your way north to Noosa.
I'd recommend the Pacific Hwy, and if you are really in need of a fun driving fix, follows sco's advice.

And...
If you do choose the New England route, it comes in thought the Southwest suburbs - like Wildcard said. The Cunningham highway joins on to the Ipswich Motorway. You can get to "the other side of town" by taking the Logan Motorway, and turn off to the Gateway Motorway, then you follow that up to the Bruce Highway (past Hymee's place), then on to the Sunshine Coast.
Going via the Logan Motorway means you can go the whole way at highway speeds, no lights. The penalty is 3 tolls ($1.50, $1.60, and finally $2.20 for the Gateway Bridge)
Just something else to consider! It depends on how much of Bris Vegas you want to see!
Cheers,
Hymee.

On which route to use, I would suggest inland on the way up, with deviations as recommended, and Pac Hwy coming back, allowing time for some leisurely stays around Byron or Coffs or Forster areas -- just a suggestion
