AusRotary Sydney Cruise 16 July

The team at AusRotary have organised a Sydney cruise on 16 July. Details as follows:

"Date: Sunday 16th July...

Time: 11am meet, 11:30 leave

Meeting spot: A park called "Wiley Park".
Corner of King Georges Road + Canterbury Road
(You can enter the carpark from either of these two streets.
Edge Street or Clio Street)

And last I guess which depends on the size of the turn out..

Destination: Cordeaux Dam (From Sydney: take the M5 towards
Canberra. Past Campbelltown, take the Wollongong
turnoff at Picton Road. The entrance is about 10 minutes
on your right)."

Should be some interesting rotors there.

I'd love to attend, but I'll be o/seas for work

- I used to live near Wiley Park.. be super careful when you get there, theres almost always trouble lurking close by...

The flashing blue lights kind of trouble or the "Give me your damn car or I'll shoot you!" kind?

Hmm, given the current epidemic I wonder whether I might be better off giving it a miss. I don't need to see old skool rotors that badly.

I ended up driving down to the wilds of Wiley Park to see who turned up to this thing. Good news kunz - I still have my car.

Mine was the only 8 there (what a shock! ). Some interesting rotors, including a mint looking black FD on chrome 20's.

Decided not to go on the cruise though. Something told me I'd have very little in common with this crowd . Don't get me wrong - I'm sure they're all good blokes - just a very different demographic.

Indeed, from my quick trawl on their forum on the weekend, it seems the 8 doesn't rate as a rotor worth talking about (i.e. it should have been a turbo, it's slow, it's ugly, etc ). Gomez is attempting to educate them but I think it'll be a slow process until the 8 gets even cheaper and the younger crowd start buying them.

As it is I had some work to do so I hightailed it back to the city and missed out on torturing rangers and security guards.

This thread will give you an idea:

There's evidence of me there in the first set of thumbs but be careful - I copped some popups when I hit them.

There is a bit of interest over there.....you are right though, an average RX-7 owner is younger than his car. HP is everything to these guys. HP, and avoiding the cops on a Saturday night......

Thanks Muzz.

When are you gonna come out of the woodwork again?

I've been beating the drum but nobody's listening.

I sent an SMS message out to the Sydney Group today advising of the 13 August cruise.

If you're not on the SMS Group but would like to be, contact kunz or myself and we'll add you in.
