Anyone here from Wellington, NZ?

Just curious if there are any other Wellingtonians lurking in here?

Not too many 8s to be seen around here... but keen to hear from any other locals.

Talking Welcome!

Nup sorry on that one...I think most of us are from Oz.

Try Oz mazda.....just a thought but they might pull more Mazda enthusiasts from NZ as well as Oz. Goodluck on the hunt and welcome...if you can't find any Kiwis you are welcome to join us

Cheers for the welcome - I've been lurking here for a while having picked up my VR Type S about six weeks ago. But it's fair to say there are very few 8s in Wellington. I think I can maybe count the ones I've seen on one hand.

And yeah loving the car - but have been travelling in the UK/US and haven't driven it in a week and a half! Argh lol.

Know the feeling, I used to drive every day in Auckland, along Tamaki Drive to the city, pretty motivating. Train into Sydney ain't quite the same!!

Cant say I live in Wellington, but I did study there briefly and man oh man would I like to take an 8 down south on the west coast. I might be a little averse to shifting with my left hand, but I am sure it would be worth it.

Of course, i did manage to get a speeding ticket from a video camera while I was down there. Your police are some tricky *************. No human being actually SAW me speeding, but I still had to pay for it!

Morning
How much is petrol these days?

We're thinking of going over during the December school holidays, hiring a car and driving around North Island.

Cheers

(I'm overseas travelling myself so I'm not completely current on the prices).

Premium 96 is $NZ1.80/ltr.

Don't have a specific price for Regular 91, but I'm guessing it's about $NZ1.75/ltr.

Note the NZ has slumped against the Aussie $.

Yeah it cost me $100 to fill the tank this morning, thats the highest i have ever paid. I try not to worry about it too much it does your head in. When i got my car a year ago it was only $75 to fill it up grrrrrr I still love my car though!

by the way those speed cameras are terrible and just for revenue getting, but we all know that

The Aus/NZ forum is not very active really. Though there seem to be many 8s in town.

There are plenty of 8s around Wgtn!

You can import 2005 and newer into NZ now with the emissions laws. My 04 needed to be imported before Jan 1 this year so I rushed it through and got it all complied. It's a straight cat too so no worries there. Only issue was getting it down in noise from 130DB to 92DB for it to be road legal. Moving home from Japan, as well as getting the car through wasn't quite the headache I was expecting.

Seems the forum is kind of quiet. Quite a few RX8's around though as someone mentioned.

I would look at the cars in Japan, they are more bang for your buck that is for sure. I got my 04 5-speed standard then had RE-Amemiya in Chiba swap out the suspension, wheels, exhaust, and do all my engine mods. I told them I love the sound of a rotary engine, so they ensured it was plenty loud enough. Japan has very little in the way of restrictions on a car's noise so was fine until I wanted to bring it into NZ. The the fun and games began.

All is good now and it's much quieter than before haha.
