ALOHA! - Yes, I'm addicted
Well, you all would have done it too... I'm at Honalulu airport right now, but yesterday, we hired an RX-8 and drove right around Oahu (Hawaii)... what a fantastic way to get around the island, relatively, it was cheap too, not much more than a standard hire car or a couple of mopeds...
Was very strange driving A) on the other side of the car B) on the other side of the road C) with a sunroof which cuts out a LOT of headroom and D) driving a POV pack, timbo, how did you do it for so long???
The place I hired it from had some really nice exotic cars, including a Ferarri 360 Modena, F355, Porsche Carrera4S, Dodge Viper GTS, couple of Maseratis, couple of Corvettes, Hummers, etc... but the RX-8 was the bargain of the lot... here's a couple of pics for your enjoyment

You're a sad, sad case pepe:D
I bet those cloth seats were preferable to leather in Hawaii's heat and humidity....but it all sounds like fun Keep us updated with pepe's tours.

Hey Pepe - commiserations. You're obviously doing it tough! :D
Thanks for the photos - even managed to get a black one huh?
BTW - every time I see an 8 with that fugly sunroof open I'm so glad it wasn't a standard piece of equipment. I'd pay to get rid of it!
Keep us posted on your USA sojourn. In fact, I reckon you should hire an 8 everywhere you go and post photos.

The sunroof was ugly, but it was bloody handy for cruisin around Hawaii... 'cept I hit my head against the edge on a large bump, damn being tall sucks sometimes!
Petrol was a fair bit cheaper though, probably works out to about 80-85 aussie cents a litre..
I'm now in Victoria, British Columbia (Vancouver Island), but took 28 hours to get here, 3 flights (on American Airlines - they suck!) and a drive from Vancouver for which I've hired a Pontiac Grand Prix for 2 weeks... it's very slowly growing on me... I love this part of the world, very beautiful, but alas, I haven't seen any 8s yet... seen a few gen 1 RX-7s and a few ragtop gen 2 ones, but not a single 8 as of yet...
Will update soon, looks like this is turning into my travel blog.. haha

Rough plan from here is to spend a bit of time here, then drive over the Rocky mountains to Calgary and Lake Louise, then back to here.
Then, Seattle, where I've hired a Mustang convertible, then driving down the Pacific Coast Highway all the way to LA, which is going to take about 5 days, should be fantastic... going out to Vegas and the Grand Canyon from there, over to Boston, Niagara Falls, Boston, then off to the UK... who knows what from there
