It takes a real coward to do something like that in te dead of the night. Pity these people aren't brave enough to do it in front of you and suffer the consequences. Gee, just this morning I noticed some cat scratches on my immaculate S7 RX7, the bloody neighbours cat, asked the neighbour to lockit up at nightand pay for the repair bill. Now looking at your photos I'm trivial.

The real shame is that it's probably some 13yo who if caught will get a slap over the wrist by the law and you pay the bill. The laws need changing. Make the idiot suffer!

Its a sad sign of our times ... I only hope that those involved get all they deserve.

Keep your chin up Kaz and , whilst i know this seems difficultm dont let yourself get bitter about it. After the repair is done, you'll still have an RX8, and the *&(*&^* &^*&(* will still have a small pr^ck!!

sorry to hear that mate...

look on the bright side, you have insurance, so let them handle all the hard work.

make sure whoever repairs the 8 does a good job. silver is one of the hardest colours to match! when you pick up the 8, make sure you look the repaired areas at different angles and compare both sides. (only one side got damaged?)

also check the doors, make sure there are no ripples because of the intrusion bars (ie. sikaflex <ie. the black gule thing they use to attach the door skin onto the bar> will expend when hot <from rubbing during repair> therefore it is harder to get a smooth finish!...... unless the insurance get you new door skins )

good luck with it and let us know the results.

eric

Sympathy for KAS.

Now to reduce the effect try the following.

Get out the touch up paint & run it along the grove cut into the paint. This requires patience as you dont want to spill the excess too much on the good paint

Once its totally dry, get out the buffing compound & start rubbing. Your not going to get the paint mismatch perfect but at least you have filled the groove.

Get some of that silver (coloured) polish to blend in even more.

Some time & effort should reduce it so a hard to notice scatch in place of the obvious vandalism it appears to be now.

this is why more countries need laws similar to the law in Singapore (where you are afraid to do anything) I recall several years ago there was an American kid who while in Singapore vandalized a car, was caught, and then suffered a public caning.

Just when I thought living in Los Angeles was bad for dents/scratches. Though I suppose there are lots of other fancy cars, our 8's look average cars sitting next to the Porsche or Ferrari.

Sorry to see that Kas... Get that fixed, get a mini cam covering your car... I am looking into installing interior cameras to cover the car's angles, so if someone tries something funny... DROPKICK!

wooah dude, that is bad... no wonder you are set to kill someone... I would do the same :D

My g/fs 306 Gti-6 got keyed all down 1 side when it was less than 1 week old, so so we understand how you feel. Her car copped a full respray on that side, and you wouldn't even know it's been done 5 years later, it was that good a job.

I know you are pissed as all **** right now, but seriously, it's only a metal and paint- it can be fixed... D

cheers

Rowdy

Same thing happened to my last car. Unfortunately it's all about jealousy mate. Don't let the buggers stress you out - be as good as new in a couple of weeks!

KAS - damn that's so depressing.

When you catch this dude you should show him how it feels to be "keyed".

Pappy.

That is just awful. There's a lot of damage in multiple places. Now that your hand has been forced have you possibly considered repainting the whole car, maybe a different unique color? Either way, hope you get it all fixed up.

Add my sincere sympathy to the list. I saw a brand new Ferrari deep-keyed on every panel a couple of years ago. The owner had just discovered it and was crying his eyes out.

Recall Vincent the hitman from Pulp Fiction saying that it would almost be worth having his car keyed just for the satisfaction of catching the guy.

Sorry to see that damage to your property.. its such a personal attack you can pull someones heart out through there mouth.

On saturday after filling up petrol at a busy Sydney servo some young gun, who was either drunk or high was checking out the car with some mates, he pulled out a set of keys commenting which one he should use to write his name on the car door, when my girlfriend opened her passanger door ( he did not notice her inside )

As i walked out i saw my girl saying something to him and i asked what was going on and she said it loud enough so he can hear.

I turned around and he said "As if i would do that you rich c@nt" as he walked over to me all tuff, i asked him to watch his language once, he continued, on his third attempt to swear at me he copped a left hook.

Waited for a min for his friends to face up but they chooked out. Dont want to sound like a hero, but i can not believe the nerve of these people, not only do they attempt to vandalise the car but they also get hot headed over not being able too.

If it was not for my girl in the car my car would be another victim.. it was worth breaking a finger on this morons face.

Regards
Phillip

I'm speachless - that damage is horrible.

The losers that do these things have no idea how hard the owners work in order to have a nice car etc.

I feel for you, hope you can find a decent panel beater to fix it.

Brave??? Na stupid man im living in Sydney never know what these junkies can pull on you, i blame it on growing up in a ruff neighboorhood

I got an ear bashing then silent treatment for the rest of the night from the misses not to mention the pain as i type.

I bet you wished you had a chance, like someone else mentioned i believe im looking into developing a system that montiors the car using video feeds from two cameras based in the car.

I think a car cover and a motion detector light would be cheaper.

Yeh a car cover would prob spark more curiosity and cause more damage.

Motion detector light is great idea only if you are close to the window and can wake up with a light that shines outside... Not to mention all the times you will be up due to cats and other things going past.
