hi guys,
does anyone know the performance of the 4spd tranny of the rx8.
been searching abroad but could not find any usable information.
some of the questions i would like to know is; does the activematic down shift gears automatically? is the power good? and is the auto nearly as good as the manual?
i've put my deposit down for a tit.grey, blk lthr, 4spd and can't wait to experience the world of rotary engine.

 

The reviews have said that the Auto is very nice, stating that it downshifts rather quickly to get you that 'blow past grandma' accelleration. It does work like a normal automatic, but also has a 'manual' mode, in which you can choose when it up/down shifts, with either the steering wheel paddles, or the shifter itself. The biggest drawback to the automatic is the torque convertor, which can't handle the high rev's of the rotary, so its redline is limited to 7500 vice 9000. This in turn cuts its peak HP to 210, vice 250.
