You will get push back on costs, so cheap n cheerful, with meals will work best. I understand the predeliction for the Top of the Town, but take my advice, keep the costs down

I would love nothing more than to support someone who has supported us before at a place that is comfort better, but I personally think its not feasible. Especially when everyone says (and understandably) that they want to be together.

But I do what everyone wants.

Provided it's clean and the food is digestible, I don't really care.

I agree being in one venue is the go if it can be managed.

Keeping costs down will also assist the interstaters (especially the Qlders).

I think the thing to do is invite entries ASAP or find some other means of establishing numbers.

Date and winton is booked which gives you all heads up on the time u need to take off work etc

Accomodation details will be available. and i dont know wat you mean by something thats clean and has decent food Dave, cuz how good was Goulburn? Isnt it same deal here? sharing rooms with a main common area?

FYI - I wont be in the dormatories, im gonna be difficult as per usual and get my own room hahahhaa with massive locks on the door.
I've done enough circuit work through NSW to experience the highs and lows of rural accommodation Kall.

Not casting aspersions on Vic hospitality. Just noting that there's cheap and there's CHEAP.

Will the locks be on the inside or the outside of the door? Can we lock you out from our rooms?

Timbo's right Andrew-you're running it,make the decision and run with it.Rule by commitee doesn't work.Reference my democratic Track running-[NOT]-it's my way or the highway.
The more input you get the more confused you'll become, and as Timbo says everyone will want something different. When I first suggested the Villas at Wakefield everyone had a different idea, but in the end they turned out to be great.
Do what you think is best.Full speed ahead and damn the torpedoes!
Cheers

Support MACCA's view. Btw I was having a senior moment earlier. The Top of the Town does not have a restaurant and bar- agreed ; whoops. It slipped my mind that I actually walked to a nearby pub for a feed and a drink.

The Nats legend has spoken.

Heed his advice or incur the wrath of a disorganised event.

In other words, make an executive decision about where we are to sleep and eat, cost it and then issue an entry form requiring payment by a certain date.

As previously advised, I am happy to review the entry form and associated event guide if that will help.

Just a thought but that "pub" that I walked to was the Railway Hotel. Plenty of room and a good bar. Could be a place to arrange an evening get together.

The pub just up the road from that one is better again. Its called the North Eastern I think.

It has an excellent restaurant and big bar. Thats where I normally go when im staying at Benalla.

So who's buying the first round of drinks then!

We will be happy to go and stay anywhere as long as it's not too bad.....I have stayed in a Youth Hostel and it was better than I thought...but I don't like to rough it. Remember accomodation etc. might be a selling point for those trying to get their significant other to come along and share the excitement.... Just a thought.....

So looking forward to this...have the date in my new IPAQ.......

Sing out if we can do or help with anything....

LOL. They all seem like good guys.

'Twas all good Kall.

Drewman did offer. I refused. You'll have to deliver it in person at the Nats.

Andrew et al,

Would you kindly update this thread as to what progress has been made with this year's National event?

I think it would be a good idea to let us know when we can expect to receive entry forms and whether any decisions have now been made with respect to accommodation.

Not hassling, just mindful that these kind of things need some decent lead time to get the best numbers, etc.

No hassle Revolver. We have a committee meeting tonight where a number of issues need to be tied up. Will report back Tues/Wed next week as we are away from thursday night for the Easter Tassie trip.

Basically Accomodation is sorted, just some fine detail to be ironed out. It will be similar to Wakefield. Mazda have committed to being involved, just now need to get some dealers involved.
