Thx. I also covered the blue aluminum part of the RB intake. After taking it for a long run I realized how hot that piece becomes. I should also note the film expands and contracts with temps. The film smooths out completely after a nice warm up.

Well I actually liked the gold color. I got the idea after visiting my friends from Roar Racing at Lime Rock Park last year. It really does make a difference.

This is one of their RX-8s and me in it.

yeah well Im sure you know Roar and all the 8s in Koni are using that not for the color,,,

But if you did, you did,,, personally if I used it I would tell people that I am using it for its functionality not for aesthetics,,, the best aesthetics on any car are those that are purpose driven anyway, once you start leaving that arena thats where terms like "rice" start sneaking thier way into peoples vocabulary...

i asked if i could have some of his for $$$ because i could drive down to meet him if he had extra and save me from buying a bunch for such a little project i had in mind and ask in person the best way to apply it to the intended area. plus relinquish some of the spent $ he had invested if he had extra.

just because i asked its color doesnt mean I want it for looks, but I am also not going to wrap my engine bay in gold if I dont have to. take the stick out of your ***, you make more mods for looks than anyone on this site (not that its a bad thing)

I got the idea because this slow *** Mclaren uses genuine 24k gold plating under the hood just for looks:

The mods I make serve a function and thats why they look so good, the only one that I know of that doesnt have a function are the eyelids which Im making just to fund my bigger projects,,,

Im not trying to start anything with you, but your statement seems to contradict itself,,,, Lets say the 'material gold' happen to have the color purple, Teams like Roar and Eric Meyer, etc would still have it in thier engine bay serving its purpose, I doubt you would have asked if it came in a different color if you would have seen the 'purple gold' you dont have to wrap your engine bay in the 'material gold' its something you can do, you can use aluminum, brass, copper, whatever you want but they wont be as effective in deflecting heat, you can do whatever you want, if your interested in 'heat wrap' it will not matter what color it is,,,
