Light your Stick! Dipstick & Engine Bay LED Light
Nice work Delmeister, its not a bad idea. I was considering including a small grommet with the kit. Then I realized it just wouldn't make sense to include it when there's so much light from the LED's. On the other hand, with the Hood Mount, it becomes more realistic to have an identifier around the dipstick's holder.

Funny thing now, the hole is visible in dim light but the end of the dipstick isn't. It usually takes a few pokes to mate. Next obvious step is to paint the tip white.
I have never needed a hood light, but have needed to see the dipstick location in dim or no lighting dozens of times, so I think I'll stick with the dipstick light for now. I'll PM you the details.

I know your frustration! Getting some AWESOME results with different colors, just a couple more and I'll get some pics up! Ive got a feeling..... red is going to be HOT!!!

EDIT: Careful about painting dipstick; it goes in your oil pan, gets really hot, paint will peel off and contaminate.

That first picture spoke clearly :D The 09+ RX8 has a revised location of the dipstick and oil filter (I think the entire guard underneath has to be removed to access filter)

received and installed a red light today!
it's cool. or, should i say, hot?
I was able to hide the wires very well. I actually put the button on the top of the ac bracket next to where it bolts on. easy to reach, and you can't see it at all.
i really don't know when i'm going to need to use this, but i'm having fun turning it on and off in the dark!

I just cant believe how fast it shipped! I used mine this weekend during my routine oil change. Makes it much easier to see the filter; I was having some difficulty removing the filter because I put it on way too tight last time. You will be using this way more than you may think, I use mine weekly EVERY time I check my oil!

Yes, additional units for second car, there are some out there with track and street cars. Lights can be ordered with longer cables for other parts of engine bay!

I think I'm going to order this, but honestly I don't need the light for the dipstick. After the first night of struggling to get it in, I found out you gotta "guide" the bitch in from the tip. It's a useful tip.

That's where the paper towel comes in HANDY! Ba-Dum-TshhhhI must also mention Delivery confirmation is NOT available worldwide and only in the USA. I found out this the other day, so International Shipping cost will be determined based on location.

I just bought this car yesterday, and I have to say this will be my first mod. This is really a great idea, checking oil at night is always a PITA, and with this car you really do need to do it. That or get an electronic dipstick to do it for you.

As an update I am still working on the dual engine bay light, just been working heavily on getting my CNC mill ready. Hey Joe RX-8! I ultimately decided on the push on/off type switch for it's ease of use, whenever the light is needed just push the button. The Dually also uses the same type switch, with the added benefit of the color of your choice as the secondary color. Thanks!
