I finally decided to share my experience with EVO-R.net's carbon fiber rear skirts and Jay's customer service.

Purchased the rear skirts from their website a 2 weeks ago. Received the skirts this Monday and the package was shipped from Taiwan, not NY. Got it installed on Monday. After the installation, I was checking the result and the look, and found out the 2 skirts were different. As you can see from the attached pictures, the bottom part of the driver side skirt is flairing out, while the bottom part of the passenger side skirt continues to go in towards the body. I don't think this is the original design, so I emailed, pmed and left jay a few messages with these pictures but he didn't reply. Called the phone # on their website and never got it answered.

2 holes were drilled on the rear bumper to install these skirts, so I cannot go back as the holes are too high and will not be covered by the oem rear flair. Hence I am stuck with these un-matching rear skirt with poor fitment!

Jay, if you read this message, please respond.

 

wow...im sorry but not only do they appear to be a different design but they look like **** (quality-wise). sad there were at least a couple parts i was considering ordering from evo-r... its hard to say no to the price but with quality and customer service like this, i think its going to be a NO

 

by looking at the photo. On the 3rd pic where the L angle. Need to be trim off some. It is too thick. Once that part trims off more, you shoul dbe able to push in more. I'll see what I can do.

That fitment issue you mentioned is nothing compared to the differences in design & shape between the driver side and the passenger side (the 1st and the 2nd pics).

 

also if you did not made that screw hole in the correct spot. It would turn out to be something like yours. You see it is not allowing you to push in any more. Cuz the screw is not in the right place. I will do a install on a 8 today

 

Jay, are you still not getting it, or you are trying to steer away from the core problem: The difference in shape and design of the two pieces, not the screw hole. Moreover, please stop trying to hide from the defects of your product. I made that hole large enough for the skirt to move freely, that's why I used extra washer between the screw and the skirt, and I even used my own longer screw because of the extra length needed for the extra washer. Please respond to the difference shape and design of the two pieces.

As I said, the fitment is nothing compared to the shape and design difference between the passenger side and the driver side. If you still could not see it from the 1st and the 2nd pics, let me circle them and post them again, and then would you respond on the shape/design defect?

I had the same issue. However, I noticed it before I put them on the car. It took a while but I returned the rear skirts and Jay refunded my money.

It is so obvisous now that Jay has been aware of the design defect of his CF rear skirts, but he is still selling them on their website! WTF!!

Jay, how's your install on the 8 goes? Any updates, pics? Also, have you figured out what you can do for me on the defective skirts?

 

4 days after Jay's last post, and he is still not responding. Another PM and email have been sent to Jay also, but no reply!

Are you giving up on responding, or you plan to do nothing for your defective product?

Jay, please at least respond on what your decision is, either send me a matching pair, or refund my money and I will return your defective product. You don't want to appear to be an irresponsible person/company selling poor/defective parts to RX8 owners, do you? This happened not only once but twice on the same part! Please do something!!

I'm glad to see your post again at least. Just found out this image from japanparts.com for the original passenger side burnout CF rear skirt, which matches the design on the driver side I received from you, but definitely not the same as the passenger side I have.

So was there a mistake on your production process or I was just unlucky to receive a defective pair?

Does the one you have in stock looks like the one I have, or they are different?

It should be very easy and simple to answer all my questions. Just tell me the truth and your resolution.

 

I think that is type II you posted.

 

wow, even im getting annoyed. i've been following to post to see whether i should buy or not. that picture he posted is type2. but the one on his car isnt!

 

OK, I am running out of patient already. Jay from EVOR-NET never answered my simple questions, but gave useless information.

If the one I last post is type II, then I would assume that the driver side I received from Jay is also a type II, because they are the same shape and design.

However, as point out by type59, the one on my car on the passenger side is not type II, so what type is that?

Hence Jay, are you telling me that you shipped me a type II driver side skirt and and different type XX passenger side skirt?

No those are the same Type I had. When I got them I did match them up and they are image parts.

 

I only have Type I. So both are all Type I.

 

then why do sammytcl's parts look different then? can you answer us this, and what you plan to do to fix his problem?

After looking carefully between the type I and type II, now I can conclude that I received type I (wider on the bottom) on my driver side, and I received type II (narrower on the bottom) on my passenger side. Why? It's either Jay received different version from KS to make the mold, but since he denied it already, so I will assumed the following: or Jay actually has both type I and type II made in CF and he or his shipping dept in Taiwan picked up a wrong pair and shipped to me.

Jay, tell us what happened, and how you are going to resolve it!!
