The 06-07 San Bernardino Calendar Project

Alright folks...it is time to start the 06-07 calendar.

We have a couple of different versions/ideas. I'm going to allow Lesper4 the credit for the ideas. These are his ideas, and I think they are all great. Our main goal is (1) to make something that is different from last year, (2) make something that is meaningful to our group, (3) make something that will knock the socks off the other calendars that will float around this year.

For those who are interested, pricing is going to be about what we paid last year, maybe a little more. We want to go a little larger than last year (11x17) and full color.

Go ahead and give us some feedback on the designs.

We'll start the thread by doing the good ole reserve of months....(priority goes to your birthday month)...for thoseof us who have the same month...maybe we can switch this year (like Jedi and I have June...maybe he could get June this year and I'll take July?) Just an idea.

January...Vipers.."if your turbo's bigger than your head..clap your hands"..Page complete (file: Viper Test1a) Post 502
February...kwescott...You can't be first, but you can be next..page complete (file: kwescott test06a) Post 502

Our Idea behind the new format:

You will submit ONE pic that will be used for the center pic. This is going to be full color this year.

You will also submit a color photo of your wheels.

You will submit a list of modifications:

You will submit a personal quote.

In the two format options...you will see one with rotor shaped cut outs, and a second with three rectangluar pic slots.

Here's the idea.

With the rotor shaped one...we were thinking of placing your requested center pic, along with your mod list, your wheel, and your quote. The small pics would be a combination of other pics submitted by other members. One idea is to have the center pic person choose the four pics they would like on their page, from the ones that were submitted by the other members. The second option is to leave those selections up to Loren and I.

With the rectangular one, we were thinking that the three small pics would be of your own car...similar to last years where you had a main pic, and smaller ones of your own car. Again, we would use a mod list, as well as a picture of your wheel and a quote.

We would also like you to submit other phots of your own car (not to be used as a center pic)...as well as any other shjots you like...group shots...weird angles of different things like headlights, trunk/hood emblems, whatever....maybe even a piece of trash with a blurry 8 in the background (Kevin's favorite) . As you'll see if the examples in the first post...you can see how those shots would be used.

you'll also notice a small car in the calendar section...we are thinking about using these to highlight birthdays.....a little more than just the typed word used last year....any feedback on any of these things?

Last sample has red "kid" rotors...which could be color matched to your car...as well as previous/next months in the calendar page instead of pictures....you like/dislike these ideas?

please pay close attention to the samples for they are different in the top and bottom and those ideas can be worked into each other.

Keith, I like the idea of you and I switching months.

I took a quick look at the samples and I'm not too big of a fan of the rotor shaped one right now. Not sure why, just something just doesn't look 'right'.

I'll post some pics up when I get home tonight.

months added for Jedi and Cesar....

Any response on the (1) list of mods (2) personal quote (3) little animation cars for the birthdays (4) the black border (5) only having three small pics instead of four....?

(I guess Jedi will have to use his mind-trick to convince me.)

I personally love the "kids" rotor layout.
I prefer the mods list on the right. When it's at the bottom, it looks messy.
Another idea, might be putting the company logos in the mod section. Kind of like decals on race cars.

11x13 is huge. For those who haven't measured it, if you take this year's calender, (8.5x11), and cut it off Oct 22nd and below (sorry Xrider), that's 13". Turn that sideways, and the the top portion of the the new calender.

so are you against going 11x13...or just nervous. Bigger size means bigger pics.....?

We could go with the same size as last year, but just trying to do things differently. With the smaller size, things will be squished a bit more. We may have to pull out the mods, or the quote...or both so that it wouldn't look too busy.

I agree with you on the mods being on the right....to make the bottom portion less busy.

I like the Kid rotor as well....erica had a suggestion that loren hasn't had the time yet to work on...once we get that one up, I think we'll be able to make a selection on format.

Are you guys ok with the font? Do you like the idea of the grey rotor on the calendar section.....we need feedback peoples.

I think 11x13 is great.

I don't know how much trouble it would be.
Could you make a sample picture of the actual size that these will be?
Just the picture part. I can print out several copies on ledger (11x14) and let people see it.
That would give a better prespective of what they will look like.
Then we could see if we can make better use of some of the space.
If you do one, email it to me so you don't have to lower the quality.
If you do all of the layouts, I can print those out too.

yes i can print the samples out by SS9 and the size is 11x17 NOT 11x13 (4 times last years size) when we do the final calender it will be slightly smaller then that. I have an over size printer i can use for the sample printing. I also have a few other ideas up my sleep as for layouts. I will see what i can do for tonight.

I love the calendar layout with the watermark rotor and the random pics in the extra squares.

I like the mods down the side and the personal quote.

I personally think that the squares look cleaner/more professional. But we did that last year. The rotors are a really cool IDEA but they look too busy/sloppy. Lets see what Loren can come with later.....

I am also for making the smaller pics group and 'other' pics. It gives a better group feel and gives everyone something to look forward to. the mods and the quote will keep it personal for the car in the spotlight.

I think that 0.4 instead of 0.2. Sorry

i like all the designs.. but the first rotor shaped one caught my eye the most... i like the 4 rotor pics.. just makes it more of a "rotary" calander

gee, i hope im still invited to be in this calander.... i was the outcast last year.. the only non-rx8 car in the calander... just lemme know, ill understand if you wanna do an "rx8" calander

Well, took a closer look at all the options and I like the mods on the side the best but would love to have the thumbnail pics on the bottom (without the rotors)

The rotor watermark is an AWESOME idea and I like the random pics that got thrown in there as well.
