it's not the part thats expensive though its the shipping plus installation that makes it an impractical upgrade.

I wonder if that 4.77 final drive is the $300 kia one.

I can only see this being an issue from a launch with very sticky tires (on a relatively stock 8). The Kia produces 30lb-ft more torque, redlines just north of 6000rpm, and is about 300lbs heavier. That final drive undergoes pretty heavy stress in the Kia.
I was all for doing this until I looked at my shop manual and realized that this is not a good idea for "do it yourself" unless you've had some experience working with differentials.
Now it looks like installing it would probably cost me more than a new Final Drive.

in a best motoring video there was a 400m comparison with a stock rx8 and a ms rx8 with 4.7 gearing in 400m meter race, there wasn't much difference as a matter of fact the ms rx8 clock in 15.1 where the stock on did 14.9. This was in wet roads though, but I doubt it's as powerful as a mod as you think it is
. 4.44 to 4.7 is not a crazy amount of difference in terms of gearing.
1.075:1 difference. going from 3.73 to 4.11 on an F-body is 1.10:1, and one heck of a difference. 4.1 to 4.56 on an S2000 (1:11:1) is one heck of a difference as well. 1.075:1 will be very noticeable, imo. There's more to that stock vs MS 8 story, I'm thinking.
