Cool What Happens in Vegas 2010 - Caravan Thread

SoCal Caravan Info!

Alright guys, for those of you who are coming from SoCal, here is the game plan for Friday the 18th.
We're meeting up early to avoid the traffic and hopefully the CHP.

We will be meeting up at:
Burger King
4649 Mills Cir. Ontario, CA 91764
7:00 am

http://maps.google.com/maps?f=q&sour...cbp=12,52,,0,5

This is right off the 15 Freeway so you should be able to find it easily. I picked this location because it's easy to get to regardless of whether you're coming down the 91 fw, 60 fwy (from LA), or even the 10 fwy.

There appears to be a Mobil Station right off the freeway AND a Shell Station next to the BK.
We will be departing after some of us have breakfast which should be at 7:30

From Ontario we will be going non-stop to Barstow where we'll top off the cars, stretch our legs for a few minutes and hit the road for VEGAS!
We should be arriving in Barstow no later then 9:00 and we'll be in Vegas before noon.
Shell Station
2890 Lenwood Rd
Barstow, Ca

http://maps.google.com/maps?f=d&sour...31&ie=UTF8&z=8

If you have two way radios (aka Walkie Talkies), make sure they're charged and bring them with you. They'll come in handy for the long drive

California Attendees:
Jedi54
Scremn8's
Gr8Bullet
FastRX8 (meeting off Summit)
Elf (meeting up on 15 or Barstow)
J03KILLARX8
RedFox
UrbanOcho (meeting up in Barstow)
ac3mastuh
bigireland (meeting up in Barstow)

MAP

Eastside people can meet at the Fry's Electronics on Baseline and the I-10 at 8:30am. Depart at 8:45am for Carefree Hwy meet point.

MAP

Please be punctual as we would like to get underway promptly at 10:00am.
Please have a full tank when leaving the departure point. There is a Chevron right next to McDonalds. Our next stop will be in Kingman AZ.
Westside Chevron on the left side of HWY 93N/Beale Street. "B" 171 miles from start point on Carefree Hwy.
(For some reason I can not get the map to center on the gas station. So please note that it is on HWY 93 just right of the destination point "B")

Gonna try to intercept the SoCal Caravan at Victorville; if that fails, then Barstow. If both attempts fail, then Vegas at the Inn & Out LOL.

Victorville?
if you see a couple RX-8's flying past you on the freeway just feel free to join us.
Meeting up in Barstow might be a bit easier though.
Let me know Elf, it'll be good to have you on the trip

Cesar's car two years ago,
your car last year
or is it the other way around?

although, I don't have a working scanalyzer right now so you guys are S.O.L.

I figure it'll take you about 35-40 mins. to get to the Victorville/Hwy18 interchange if you leave BK at 7:30, and I can time it (i.e., slow down ) to try to catch you there. But you're right, it'll probably be easier to meet up at Barstow.

BTW, what radio channel are you planning to use?

I'll meet you on the freeway. I'll be at the parking lot next to the 15 & Summit. As you're approaching the overpass, I'll be on the phone w/ you so I can jump on the freeway.

BTW - Did you post this in the Vegas Meet thread? People should know there is a caravan leaving that morning.
If it's only 3 of you guys meeting at Ontario Mills, you should move it to Summit Ave.
Quicker access to get on and off the freeway. There's a Jack-in-the-Box, Del Taco, Panera and Wendy's, 2 gas stations all right off the freeway and it's closer to me.

I'll call you once we're approaching Summit and you can meet us there.
I posted it in the main Vegas thread but things get lost quite quickly in there.

The only issue is that Vegas traffic on a Friday gets miserable at about 1:00 so getting there early saves us a ton of frustration on the freeway.
Besides, some places will allow early check-in and if not, you can always find stuff to do for a few hours before checking in.

what you can do is let us know when we meet up that you
may be breaking off at a certain point. that way we won't think you
broke down or got lost

Mike, Looks like it's you and me and Bignatex. Are you still close to Renton? I'm not sure where he lives.... Let's find a central spot close to I-5.

We need to figure out when to leave to make it to Barstow for the SoCal caravan - are you up for that? I'm thinkin we leave early-ish Thursday morning to give us some time to gas/eat/nap on the way - Google says it will take about 20 hours.

Due to work, I'm currently staying at the Country Inns & Suites on Lenwood in Barstow. My last day here is the 18th. My car is currently at Tustin Mazda awaiting a new power plant. I should have it before then so my main concern is not having to work that Friday. I would LOVE to caravan with you guys but I may have to just meet you there Friday night.
