Vegas drive and hot weather prep
I'm taking the Ocho in for an oil and filter change Saturday. It's also getting a new coolant reservoir because I'm sick of the coolant light false-alarming me.
Should I get anything else done on the Ocho before the trip across the desert to Vegas?

I would consider changing your coolant from Mazda Factory premix of 40% distilled water and 60% Glycol to a 60% water and 40% ethylene glycol. Maybe a bottle of Water Wetter too.
Mazda discovered while working to find my overheating issues that the antifreeze mix from the factory is not good in high ambient temperature areas like Arizona and Nevada. Or any other state that has high temps and low humidity.

I can't believe nobody suggested using fishsauce for turn signal fluid
thanks guys! I will have the tires and all the stuff under the hood done tomorrow so the ocho can handle the desert.

Ocho: as Easy mentioned, I'd recommend a coolant flush, fresh oil, and for the road trip make sure you have cold drinks.
If you've got a walkie talkie, it'll come in handy for our drive if you caravan out with us.

Urban: when your mechanic does the coolant flush, ask him to use Distilled Water (I usually put up a huge jug of it at the grocery store and take it with me).
70% water
30% coolant
1 bottle of Water Wetter (you can get that at just about any auto parts store)

Definitely grab an extra water pump belt. I had mine bust and it was not fun out in the middle of BFE. Ask Grungepup, we covered 300 miles trying to locate one. My belts was a fairly new factory one as well.
