why all the disapering threads?
I just went back to a thread that was sticky and it had been removed in the space of 6hrs.
I reckon any post should stay unless a moderator has a dam good reason to delete it i.e offensive
only offensive posts should be removed. all other posts should only be able to be corrected ie no info removed just additional info added to correct the error.

so people can go back to page one a look at the comparisons when ever they want to.
a thread may degenerate into idle chat but the info still remains for future reference
mods can clean them out if they feel the need. or mods can sticky and lock if they really want them clean and just for reference.
it's for the good of the rx8 club. if every thread that is referenced or a newbie is pointed to is deleted then what's the point in posting in the first place?

Why not give a straight answer, MM, why did you take the charts down in the first place?

you guys and all your reading in between the lines.
The graphs WERE on MM's site
The graphs were removed by MM
the thread was since deleted.
so many people questioned the thread anyways and how it really proved NOTHING since there were too many variables in the charts. what FI system, tuning, not everyone on the same PSI, etc. The chart wasn't apples to apples. (it was quite far from it)
As Jeff already said, the thread outlived its purpose. Now it's gone and we can move on.
Besides, ALL of that dyno info is still on this site. Anyone can compile the info and start a new thread.

It might be a classic case of a few people ruining it for the rest of us, but without putting words in MazdaManiac's mouth i imagine threads such as that have been removed simply because those people who have contributed to such information either are taken advantage of or simply tired of being correct by every self proclaimed "expert" that happens to run into them.
I'll do my best not to stereotype everyone here on RX8club because there are some truely interested and willing people who want to learn how this car works and how to make it better. There are, however, many who seem to have a sense of entitlement when it comes to data, information or anything in between.
This notion of "gimme gimme gimme" yet doing nothing to earn the information and not even giving props to the people or organizations that helped them in the first place is an insult. There are numerous people on this forum who have been helped behind the scenes for free and not even had the respect to publically thank or at least acknowledge that they had help.
Instead they parade themselves around as "experts" when without any support they would still be trying to figure out how to get pre-mix into their gas tank without spilling.
So, I imagine the days of free handouts are over.

That's a shame, though understandable, however it also shows that maybe those who choose to help others behind the scenes maybe should also learn how to better pick who they help and try to distinguish the ******** from the non. But that's not always easy.
Others will always ruin things for the majority due to selfishness and greediness, human vice.

In the case of the dyno comparison thread, it simply got out of control because some people didn't seem to understand how the process worked. It was really simple. A dyno chart showing the performance of a FI kit out of the box. The key is "out of the box" in that sentence. People would constantly complain about dyno numbers cause so and so got X whp after they dropped $2,000 into their kit. Well, that's not "out of the box" is it?
There was also arguments as to whether or not an engine dyno would be acceptable to place into the chart. Well, with 95% of the FI kits being ran on a chassis dyno it wouldn't be a real "comparision" would it? Apples to apples...that's how it was supposed to work.
Still, the information is out there and it's not stopping anyone from opening their own thread and making their own charts.
