BC RX-8 Event - Visit Erik's Restorations & Lunch (Saturday, November 24, 2007)

Hi BC,
It's been almost a month since the last time we met. What better time to organize a little get together?
This month, we're going to visit a potential sponsor - Erik's Restorations.
On Saturday, November 24, 2007, Erik is going to show us some stuff he is working on and he is also going to discuss with us some of the things we may want. This guy does awesome paint jobs, custom parts, and more!
Check out their website - http://www.eriks-customs.com/
For those of us interested in installing an after-market LCD screen, or painting the centre console or pass-through exterior red, this is definitely an event worth attending.
Afterwards, we can head out and grab ourselves some lunch and just chill with our fellow RX-8 drivers.
Date: Saturday, November 24, 2007
Time: 10:00am
Location: Erik's Restorations (11932 95 A Ave, Delta, BC)
A bit off topic, but do you think the club can tee-up with a local Mazda dealership and organize some sorta event? We used to do that back in Toronto with our subaru club. It gotten so big that now there's an annual Subaru meet at the Subaru of Canada HQ.
In terms of dealership... We've teamed up with one dealer to be a sponsor. Of course sponsorship deals are only available to members.
Maybe you could come out to one of our meets one day and tell us in person what kinds of events you'd like to see. We still have yet to meet you so come on out.

I think there will be more people showing up last minute. I think the christmas shopping season combined with cross border bargain hunting may be competing for our member's time.
BCRX8 folks keep in mind that this is another potential sponsor for our club. Those interested in bodykits(myself included) and other exterior and interior car mods will find this event worthwhile attending.

time for a little bump action. =)
On top of visiting Erik's Restorations, you'll also be one of the first to see my new Chrome wheels! And be one of the first to hear about my 3 and a half month saga with Wheels West.

Eldon's doing a paint durability test.....we will all gain valuable data on the durability of the RX-8 paint with continued exposure to rain and dirt over extended periods of time

PS: my engine arrives Friday afternoon

Well... if Eldon IS showing up with a dirty brown car and new chrome wheels.... then....

At LEAST HIS CHROME WHEELS WILL MATCH HIS SINGLE CHROMED MUFFLER! HAHAHAHA!!

I LOVE that picture! It's awesome! hahahaha!
Yes. I'll volunteer my car for the paint durability test. The following is sample data of when my car was washed:
Jan '07: Roads were really dirty, so no point of washing.
Feb '07: Same as Jan '07
Mar '07: Drove a lot in the rain.... At moderately high speeds... figured the rain is acting like pressure wash.
hahaha. just kidding. =P
I'll get my car washed on Friday... (I never said which Friday though.)

Ummmmm..... guys?
Anyway we could postpone the time? to let's say noon-ish?
I'm scared to death about driving my car that early in the morning, what with all the black ice, on all the hills in New Westminster.
If not... I may be late.
Just on foot I slipped twice coming home last night. It's pretty grim around my area.
Wait.... can I arrive by bus? (Erik knows I drive an RX8 already - anyways)
(Grumbles.... stupid cold winter weather icy bridge slippery death crash old person boat-car lawsuit Grrrrrrr)

I'd have to say that the meets and functions we hold are primarily in the interest of our club's existing members who we count on showing up.
Maybe you could come out to one of our meets one day and tell us in person what kinds of events you'd like to see. We still have yet to meet you so come on out.

Anyhow this is my suggestion, take whatever you wish from it. Building support from Mazda via its dealership channel can only lead to good things as was experienced with my old Subaru club in Toronto.
I can probably make it =). My photoshoot was postponed til january (was gonna be on the 24th originally) and my band meeting is being rescheduled! Ermmm yeah and if the roads are too icey, I'll be borrowing the SUV >_>... But I'll bring my cute mini RX-8 with me!!

I think we should keep the date and time the same. It's a little late to change it now. Drive slow. Give yourselves ample time. Remember safety first. So I guess if you're tardy because of poor driving conditions, we will forgive you. But please give me a call so that I know you're okay. =)
sorry i won't be able to make it...finals are coming up...need to put my *** together and ace the final like the midterms....
HAVE FUN guys..
if anything special and important come up, i will ask about it later.
THANKS
OOHH KUDOS to Dan.
New engine hay....how many Hp you thinking of pushing? are you going to change the seals to ceramic ones?

We had a nice meet yesterday. As expected the turn out was smaller than usual but it's always nice to meet up with the few regulars that always come out.
here's what we did:
-We met Erik the owner of the bodyshop we toured and he gave us an education of the different kinds of custom paints that he specializes in as well as giving us an idea of how body kits are made and the lengthy process involved.
-Then we went to a local Irish Pub and had a nice lunch.
-After that most of us went to KrispyKreme donuts.
-After that everyone else left and Tim and I went to visit Ray(one of our bcrx8 members) at his hobbyshop to look at and try his RC cars that handle perfectly around his indoor track. Some of the cars he has set up for drifting. Anyways, he has become another sponsor to offer our club deals on cool stuff from his hobbyyshop. so those of you out there lookin for X-mas presents...
Tim got pictures of all this so he could post them or email them to you.

Ray's shop is a cool place to hang out. We should go there again someday!
Check out his remote control car Dyno, I never even knew something like that existed.
