I have been looking for a bike rack for my 8, but Yakima and Thule say they don't make one that will work. All the manufacturers refer me to a receiver hitch rack, and a quick check of hitch websites indicates that no receiver hitch is made to fit the 8. Right now I'm taking the front wheel off, laying the passenger seat down and sliding the bike in. I'm afraid I'll tear up my interior if I keep it up. Any ideas anyone? Thanks.

 

Yakimas Q-towers (generic setup) work on the rx-8. You get them, some bars and a roof mount rack. If you search the forum for yakima, I think one of the hits will have info from Yakima themselves with exactly what parts to buy.

 

Yakima Q Towers, Q60 clips and 48" cross bars.

Saris rack with #18 clips.

I cringe at the thought of a bike rack on an 8. Can't you just rent a pickup or something ?

 

I use the Saris Bones (2) Bike. 2nd car it has been on. Works like a jiffy and can contort to about any position.

BTW, the first RX-8 I ever saw on the road had a bike rack... it belonged to hppy4u... bought mine a few weeks later.
