Stalling while idling on upslope
I've had this happen to me three times in the past two days. Basically when I stopped in traffic on an upslope, the engine stalled, and I had to crank like crazy to get it restarted. Two of the times traffic had to go around me since it took a while, and the other I was fortunate enough to get it going before the light changed (meanwhile, I looked like the guy who couldn't drive a stick on a hill). The most recent time this happened I was able to get it restarted fairly easily, but nothing was there when I hit the gas. It took 3-4 starts until I got it going. My RX8 is a 2006 with a hair under 60k miles on it, and there have been no other problems to date (aside from sun visors). Possibly worth noting is yesterday was warm (around 70), and today was the hottest day of the year (84). The stalls happened after 25 miles of interstate driving. In the past when idling on a slope I would notice the RPMs would drop for a split second before bouncing back up to normal.
Does this sound like a symptom of engine compression issues that would lead to replacement? Just looking for some thoughts before I call the dealer in the morning. Thanks for your help.
